I can't speak much for Anderson County as I haven't seen them play nor heard much about them, but I think Cov Cath could beat Oldham County if it came down to it. It looks to me like if you compare schedules, both Oldham and Anderson have played easier schedules than Cov Cath has (save the Conner game for Oldham). I think all three would likely give the other teams a decent run, but I think Cov Cath could be moved up from #8.

I certainly agree that Anderson County has played the lesser schedule of the three. And I think that hurt them against Oldham on Friday. Oldham was the aggressor from the outset...

I think the problem CovCath has is that they haven't really beaten a top tier team. They've played several good teams, but really haven't beaten them. Beechwood's a nice team, but they're not your father's Beechwood, and a good 5A team SHOULD beat them. Sure, they scored 39 on DH, but every 5A and 6A team that's played DH has scored at least 36 points... And CovCath's showing against Highlands hurts them here, I think...they didn't get their second first down until the Highlands' JV team entered the game. Granted, losing to Highlands is no shame at all, but shouldn't a top 10 team be able to muster more than one first down against the varsity??

I think you have to look at what a team's done against the tougher schedule. IMO, CovCath hasn't done that much against the better teams.

Oldham, on the other hand, owns victories over a really good Jtown team - by a big margin - and had an extremely impressive outing in the win over Anderson County, in which the Bearcats - with the state's #2 offense (40 ppg, 440 yards per game) was held without a first down (and with just -5 yards total) in the first half, and finished with just 7 points and less than 150 yards of offense. Oldham hasn't lost to a team below 6A, and outplayed both Conner and Eastern. Only Scott County, a top 10 6A team, took Oldham's measure. The OC Colonels are also undefeated since making some personnel changes...

Of course, you and I are both a little biased, I would think, but I think the poll is about right on for the moment.

At least the BGP poll has Oldham above Anderson. Despite the win over the Bearcats, Litkenhous and AP both still have Anderson several spots above Oldham County.

Two teams that might have reason to complain, however, are Warren Central and Grayson County...Grayson's been hurt by a horribly weak schedule, but they beat WC...and WC beat Bowling Green last Friday. Going to have to keep an eye on those two...

It's going to be a tough week for the 5A top 10...could take some lumps against that schedule.

I think an Oldham County/CovCath game would be worth the price of a ticket. Oldham might have the slight edge, but generally I'd call this a "pick 'em" game.

I think it'd be a lot of fun. I'd give CovCath a slight edge on offense, but Oldham a significant edge on defense. The teams used to be district rivals for a few years - lots of fun when the "Colonels vs. Colonels" played, especially since both are royal blue and white!!!

True story - Oldham played CovCath one year at home when both were top 10 caliber...a little known fact that year was that the Oldham QB was color blind! The similarities between the two uniforms was going to cause a serious problem - even the "shades of gray" were going to be the same. So Oldham County got some practice pants from the University of Louisville (all white), stripped them of the logos, and wore them that night. Nobody could figure out what the deal was - they were plain-Jane white and looked out of place with the rest of the uniform. But they allowed the QB something to focus on to distinguish Oldham from CovCath.

Yeah, this state is lousy with Colonels and Wildcats. Go figure.:D Those district days were all too brief, in my opinion. I never got to make a road trip to Oldham or South Oldham back then, but I'd rather have them still in the loop over Scott and Dixie. Such is the life in six class football.

That is a pretty good story. I worked with a 20-something-year-old guy back in the 80's who was red/green colorblind. He didn't bother to tell me until AFTER he'd gone through a red light in downtown Cincinnati (luckily at 1am,) and dang near caused me heart failure. I pointed out that the red light was always on top or to the left, to which he replied "Oh, I never thought about that!" I thought he was kidding, but he was dead serious. I never drove with him again.:scared:

Great story!!

Oldham and CovCath were only in district together in 2003 and 2004, with Oldham winning at home, 27-24, in 2003, and CovCath winning in Covington, 30-6 the next year. You're right, it was too short a time...

Hope we get to link up again in the future...
