Brossart came back after a week without volleyball and won their match aganist Lloyd. Great job!

 

I just want to say that I am extremely disappointed in the parents at Lloyd. They were taunting the Brossart players. I understanding cheering and I even understand a little bit of taunting from fellow students. However, when the parents are making comments over and over again so that the girls can hear them - like "all they do is hit short" or "they only have one hitter" or "come on Lloyd you are better than they are" - its very childish and hurtful to these kids who work so hard all season. Competition is healthy don't get me wrong, but it is very unsportsmanlike when adults start being cruel to players.

 

This in no way reflects their coach. I have know DC for a long time and he is a fantastic guy/coach. I have never had this happen any other time that I have been in Lloyds gym. I just wanted to get it off my chest.

Nice win for the Mustangs.

Seems like this is the second occurance when fans/parents get a bit out of hand and forget that we are examples to our children and represent the school. The images of a school can be very fragile and unsportsmanship conduct by the fans can be viewed as a "black eye" to the school.

We all can get caught up in the excitement of a match/game but we represent the school as much as our players. The players are held accountable for poor sportsmanship and it appears that the fans/parents may need to be reminded of their role and responsiblity to the team.

Just my thoughts.

I was at the game and sitting by the person you think was talking about your kids. By no means is this true. She was telling our kids when your big hitter was in the back row and telling them when they were going to hit short. (instead of going for a kill) It was awareness chatter for our kids and not directed to yours. She was a college player and a long time coach and as you witnessed very vocal. I am sorry that you think that was directed to your kids. Although several of the girls on your bench where not very nice to the Lloyd fans at all and I will leave it at that. Congratulations to Brossart on a good win. Bad sportsmanship on the part of opponents makes a victory even sweeter! :thumb:

 

I disagree that bad sportsmanship happens at almost every match you see. We might argue over calls, but most parents do not taunt or disrespect players/coaches/parents etc...at least not openly.

 

BTW, I have only seen Brossart parents at football games and they are one of the best, supportive parents I have ever seen......maybe second to Pikeville parents.

I agree that poor sportsmanship is rare. That's why it stands out when a student body acts poorly and the athletic director remains at the scorers' table and does nothing to correct it. Thank goodness for a photographer that had enough class to try and put a stop to the disgraceful behavior.

As adults we should be over it more than a week later .

This is not taunting or bad sportsmanship . This is just trying to help your team win . Probably by stating the obvious and something that the coaches if they are competent have all ready pointed out . Now as relating to the players actions from the bench remember they are just kids
