Ashland has a duels match tomorrow night against Fairland. Should be a good indicator to see how their season will be this year. I think they fill most weight classes. Their 145-189 are very solid IMO. Loaded with talent and experience.

The Ashland duals turned out to be a little bigger than planned. Both Chesapeake, OH and Fairland came.

 

Some pretty good Ashland wrestlers to watch (in increasing weight class order):

 

Trace Stafford – experienced Senior, fast and strong

 

Joe Serey – experienced Senior, much improved

 

Blake Runnells – experienced Senior, fast and strong

 

Angle Gurule – inexperienced Senior, but very athletic (All-State football team) – seems to be a natural and is learning quickly

 

New kid from Chicago (haven’t learned the name yet) – but he is a good one, he is used to good competition, a Senior I think. We’ll all know his name soon.

 

There are some other wrestlers with potential as they gain experience. The numbers are really up this year. Coach Tony Love has really re-vitalized the program at Ashland.
