September 28, 200917 yr It's all came down to this. After a good end to August and only trailing the Wild Card by 3 GB on September 1st, disaster struck as the Braves fell to 7.5 GB on September 7th. But since then, with nothing to lose, the Braves have been the best team in baseball winning 14 of their last 16 games and climbing back to within 2.5 GB to begin the final week of the regular season. Led by their pitching, the Braves are looking to keep ground as they open a 7 game home stand with a 3 game set with the Marlins. Monday: Sanchez (3-7) vs. Jurrjens (13-10) Tuesday: VandenHurk (2-2) vs. Hudson (2-1) Wednesday: Nolasco (12-9) vs. Vazquez (15-9) On a side note, the Braves final game is at 1:30pm on Sunday, while the Rockies start at 4:10pm. So it could end up the Braves having to wait and have their fate in the Rockies hands on the last day.
September 29, 200917 yr Braves up 3-0 in the 6th with 2 outs and runners on 1st and 3rd (for the Marlins). Jurrjens has pitched well so far.
September 29, 200917 yr Jurrjens got out of that inning without giving up a run. Going on to the bottom of the 6th.
September 29, 200917 yr Braves got out of that jam. The Braves are actually getting outhit, with only two hits to Florida's three, but one of those was a homerun.
September 29, 200917 yr Jurrjens in another jam. Runners on 1st and 3rd with one out, then he just struck out one to get two outs. Hope he can get out of another one.
September 29, 200917 yr Braves win! Just 2 games back in the wild card. Man, if the Cards could have just dug out one of those other games.... Heck, after tonight, looks like the Braves will be 4 back of the Phillies. Maybe they can have a Met like collapse and the Braves can just get the NL East!

September 29, 200917 yr -I wish Colorado weren't playing Milwaukee. -I wish Atlanta weren't playing Florida. -Philly got swept in their last four game series versus Houston, and lost the opener of a 4 game set tonight. The Braves can probably get away with losing one tops. Maybe not even that. But I think they'll probably lose at least one to Florida. I just don't see them sweeping them. I hope L.A. loses every single game between now and their series with Colorado. I want them to go into that series needing to win.
September 29, 200917 yr Author Rockies and Braves both have just 6 games remaining. Braves: Marlins (2), Washington (4) Rockies: Brewers (3), Dodgers (3) Braves currently 2 GB in the Wild Card. So that means it plays out like this just for a tie. Rockies 6-0= Braves eliminated Rockies 5-1= Braves eliminated Rockies 4-2= Braves go 6-0 to force 1 game playoff Rockies 3-3= Braves can tie going 5-1, or win WC going 6-0 Rockies 2-4= Braves can go 4-2 to tie, 5-1 to win. Rockies 1-5= Braves can go 3-3 to tie or 4-2 to win. Rockies 0-6= Braves can go 2-4 to tie or 3-3 to win. I could see the Rockies going 3-3 over the 6 games, taking 2 of 3 from the Brewers and then losing 2 of 3 from the Dodgers. Tonight is a big game for the Braves with Hudson on the mound. Hopefully the Braves offense will still come out hot. And more than anything I hope Turner Field has a lot more fans tonight than it did last night. During their last 15 wins the Braves have averaged 6 runs a game.
September 29, 200917 yr Author Marlins will now send Josh Johnson to the mound to face the Braves instead of Vandenhurk. Johnson was scratched from his Sunday start due to illness but is said to be ready to go tonight. He is 1-1 against the Braves this season, losing his last start 5-2.
