Shelby County 2009/2010

Featured Replies

What does Shelby County need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

It's definitely going to be a bit strange in Shelbyville this year, with the new school set to open next season, and the Lady Rockets not even favored to win their district.

But the Lady Rockets have something going for them that few schools have...and that's a true PROGRAM. Shelby County long ago established a system that churns out PLAYERS who understand the system. The middle schools have all bought in and they teach what is needed not to win MS games, but to prepare the players to win HS GAMES... And they repeatedly put good coaches on the bench. Overlook Shelby at your own peril this year.

I wouldn't say that Anderson is much of a favorite, if any over Shelby at this point. Anderson is going to be starting two middle schoolers and only has one senior. Shelby has a number of experienced guards and a nice young forward in Wells. I think Shelby will surprise a lot of teams this year and are in the mix with a lot of teams that COULD win the region.

I agree. Shelby would almost have to be the pre-season favorite.

I would call it almost a toss-up at this point....nobody really knows where exactly Anderson is going to be at. They are playing so many young kids.....

Those Anderson youngsters are not only extremely talented, they have game experience. While I'm already on record here as warning folks not to overlook Shelby, the Lady Rockets are simply going to have to prove they can keep up with AC. It's a new role for Shelby, but nobody should feel sorry for them...they're going to be just fine. Still - right now - the 30th belongs to AC until proven otherwise.

Does anyone know how the Wells kid did this summer? She could make a lot of noise in the 8th this season.

Haven't seen her this summer, but she showed a lot of promise last year. Yet another one of the incredible youngsters coming up in the 8th... it's amazing how young this region is (when you look at the top players). Fast-forward this region 2 years, and it might start to remind folks of the 8th's glory years in the 80s and 90s when the region was strong AND deep. Seems like every team features freshmen or sophomores that are talented beyond their years...
