I was impressed with Corbin and South. South doesn't have the overall talent that they have had 4 or 5 years ago but they have a very nice line and backs. Their line was big and physical. If their backs had more experience and weren't adapting to a new style, they would be a tough ball club.

 

As for Corbin, they came out, ran the ball, passed the ball and did what they needed to do. I'm much more impressed with a 21-0 win than I would have been a 42-14 win. Pitching a shutout is a hard thing to do. Especially with a good offense like South.

 

I will also say, Im sure Corbin was overlooking them a bit but South coming out and smacking them made it more close than what the reality says it should have been. Corbin needs to get tougher across the front.

 

As Hounds said, they do seem to lack a little toughness. I'm not saying they should play dirty and cheap shot but a nasty streak is needed. This is football, not youth choir at the church house. Whether anyone will admit it or not, everyone knows football needs to have a little venom. I'm not one to care whether or not someone thinks if I have class or not. Like I said, nothing dirty or intentionally trying to injure a kid but it'd be nice if the Hounds caused some bruises and let the opponents know they just got hit.

 

I'm confused and beginning to wonder if we even won the game. The fact is our "O" line is undersized, our "D" line is undersized and thus far they have given up a lot of size to every team that we have played. You can get nasty all you want, but that does not make up for 70-100lbs. I think they are doing pretty good-we are better than at least 4 teams right now. When your a freshman weighing in at 170 or 175lbs and playing on the line something is wrong, not with the kids, but the program. Yea, our kids could use a little more fire, but some games just don't get you fired up. Just like playing at North last year. You could argue that we had more size on the line last year, we had more beef, more hosses, but we absolutely stunk it up at North, and we defeated a much improved NL team this year and did it quicker than last year. We had better get fired up for this game Friday or we will get beat and I can guarantee you that Hazard will be fired up.

I thought this would be much worse. South must be improving.

 

I thought Corbin would have beat them alot worse also. Just thought that Corbin would be too much for South.

Much closer than I thought it would be. SL played very good on defense.They loaded the D-line up and shut down our running game.Corbin as a team did not play good tonight they looked flat.SL played they way they should in a big rival game and we didnit.But as ugly as it was Corbin got the win that is why Corbin is a very good team.There will be nights like that when nothing is going right. Corbin 4-0 on the season good job Hounds.

 

It appears to me that there are far too many negative running plays where defensive players are in the backfield as soon as the RB's get the ball. Is this because of missed assignments, blocking schemes, too many to block or OL getting beat badly? Would more passes to the TE or quick slants across the middle to the WR's help keep the LB's honest?

Every team knows we run up the middle so teams are starting to stack the box.Spreading 2 or 3 wide outs running some swipes around the end will help to get some players away from the line and that will open up the running game.We are to predictable on our offense.The O-line is doing alright no we ant as big on the line as in the past out weighed by 60 t0 70 lbs in most games.
