sportanalyst$ Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Congratulations to LCA on the big out of state win. It seems like they got complacent towards the end, but way to represent KY.
FalconBacker Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Congrats on a nice win LCA! I posted early in the week that CPA shouldn't be taken lightly just because they gave up 55 to FC. Nice job representing KY against a fine TN team.
Guest Bluto Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 LCA......CPA 361......248 Total Yds. 216......051 Rush Yds. 179......197 Pass Yds. 17-173-1 Hayden (Rush/yds/TD) 3-98-1 Burdette (Rec./yds/TD) 28-6 Halftime score 2nd half: too many turnovers, penalties, mistakes (stats from the post-game show on the radio)
Guest Bluto Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Congrats, Eagles. :thumb: A win is a win, especially on the road. Clean up the mistakes & you'll go far.
oldrambler Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Congrats to LCA on the win and btw, you guys are more than welcome to make every mistake in the book and then some when Raceland comes to town this season. Far be it for us to critisize you over it.
Guest Bluto Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I just finished listening to the (taped) radio broadcast, & jotted down some notes. (fyi, stats may be incomplete, as I have a few gaps in the tape, a la Richard Nixon...) Good News: New guys, & improved veterans. Fresh faces filling in admirably for the men lost to graduation. Our defense has improved greatly, with some guys delivering on their potential. Love to see this. I was glad to see a lot of substitions. That means we have a lot of quality players that can share the load. Not perfect, but no team is at this stage of the season. Bad News: Sloppy 1st game. Penalties: LCA 9; CPA 2 LCA's Hayden ran in a TD, but penalty called it back. A 2nd penalty took LCA out of FG range...no points. TWICE CPA was stopped at the goalline, bringing up 4th & 10; but penalties gave CPA a 1st & goal at the 5. Results: 2 TDs for CPA Fumbles: LCA lost 3 of 4; CPA lost 0 of 1. LCA fumbled at the end of a drive that brought them to the CPA 10 yd line. CPA ran an LCA fumble back for a TD. INTs: LCA 1; CPA 1 LCA had a punt blocked. Forecast: As I posted earlier, clean up the mistakes & these guys will go far.

Bluto, at one point in the 4th quarter LCA's Defense had on the field...Freshman corner, Soph Corner, freshman LB with 2 Sophmore LB's, and a Freshman at nose. This was when the game was tight. LCA's is playing a lot of young kids right now which should pay dividends down the road.

I was thrilled to hear names called by the announcers that I had only seen in print on the roster. That's valuable experience that is being gained, and that will pay off later. That's why my "forecast" was/is optimistic. Even with some newer players & several miscues, we still managed to beat a good CPA team. We will only get better.
