Excellent point. "Batting averages" are very relative to the type of pitching faced. This is true in Kentucky. But also, position players in this part of the country have a lot harder time getting looks, partly because the type of pitching that batters face in Florida, California, and Texas is much tougher.

Somerset's (Soph) Taylor Sears led the county (Somerset, Pulaski Co. & Southwestern) in hitting with a .488 avg. During the summer, playing for the Paul Morse Mustangs, hitting in the #2 slot he hit .390...Look for another big year for the incoming left handed hitting Junior 2nd baseman.

In playing for one of the Premier Summer Teams in the USA (Midland), he gets seen by more than enough College/Pro Scouts at each and every one of his games! The Midland players who have moved on to big time College and Pro teams is legendary and all you need to do is look at Midland web site to see the long list of such players

He's had exposure to and contact with many of the nation's best college baseball programs. He didn't have a good summer with Midland. There is no way possible for him to have exposure to better schools.

The key here is he didn't have a good summer. Maybe he feels he belongs at a higher level than scouts and coaches have told him they see him fitting at? I don't know, just speculating. I can't imagine he didn't get plenty of exposure to great programs playing in that summer program.

From what I heard, he had a very bad summer performance wise. There were several schools who had been pursuing him who stopped recruiting him.

From what I have been told/led to believe from some who I know, who really knows the kid, his play this summer just might have to do with his unhappiness.

 

Think about your own life, if you are not happy with the happenings in your everyday life, are you as productive in you work, study or family?

 

Seems to me that one just might lead to another, happy kid, happy ballplayer better ballplayer or unhappy kid, unhappy ballplayer, to a kid who just has a hard tie being a kid playing a game!
