Whatever happened to Jacob Jenkins?

Featured Replies

Seeing the Manual 2009/2010 thread got me to thinking. Jenkins suffered through an injury-plagued senior season; I was wondering if he had committed yet. Last I heard he was being recruited by a couple of MAC schools, but I haven't heard anything since.

Any update? I saw him play once when he was a junior and he played awfully well.

Jody Demling is reporting that Jenkins is most likely headed to prep school.

Not most likely, definately. He's headed to St. Thomas More Prep in Connecticut which is one of the top Catholic academic programs in the country and top basketball program. Coach Jere Quinn is rated one of the top 3 high and prep school coaches in the country.

Jenkins had surgery the week after Manual's season ended and had a bone fragment removed from the top of his foot. Started training last week.

The two schools in the MAC are Miami of Ohio and Toledo. Miami has filled their 2009 class, but has asked Jenkins for 2010. Toledo had an offer on the table, but Jenkins decided against signing and to prep one year to get fully healthy.

Yes, Bellermine remains an option. Coach Pitino has asked Jenkins to join UL's team as a walk-on. Jenkins also remains in contact with OK State, WKU, Wisc, Evansville, Xavier, and a few others. The main thing is getting healthy and continuing to build on his education. A frustrating year hasn't kept him down.

Hope the surgery went well. I have really felt for this kid this year. So many injuries and his senior year. Hope all goes well at St. Thomas More Prep and he can pursue his dream of playing college ball.:thumb:

A year away from a lot of distractions might be the best thing for Jenkins

Thanks for the updates.:thumb:

You're welcome. On another note, now that Jenkins has reclassfied to the 2010 class, you will most likely hear about him the national AAU circuit in July.

What AAU team will he be playing for. Hope his foot is healed by then.

Not sure. One of 3 or 4 teams. I agree. One-hundred percent is what he needs to be when taking the court.
