I just assumed Sellers started because Clark only had 1 run in the 4th inning when I got there. How did Estes struggle? Did Clark County throw anyone after Bell? Can't recall. Just find it hard to believe that schools as big as those two can't develop at least5-6 really good pitchers. Sellers wasn't anything special, but was impressed with the lefty at the end(Broering), is he their ace?

 

We lost most of our pitching to graduation last year. We are in the process of rebuilding. I know when we played Covington Catholic in the Boyd Co tourney, we started a Freshman pitcher, and that was his first game to pitch. We also start a Freshman at short stop.

Estes struggled with control a bit today, but probably is their ace.

Broering, a Jr., is pitching as well as anyone on the team right now.

Sellers didn't have his best stuff today, but has been very good at keeping hitters off balance pitching mostly in relief.

Rief, who did not pitch today, has also been very strong on the mound for the Camels, and has one perfect game this year.

And today's starter (Franzen) was very good early this season, but has not seen the mound due to injury for at least a month.

There's a few more (Carrier, Albrecht) who have also done a good job this season.

I now know this but still don't know why CC went through 2 pitchers early and only had given up 1 run.:idunno: Thought Broering threw very well, will he start in their next game?

 

Broering or Rief would be my guess.

I was listening to the game and in the 6th I believe, the announcer stated that GRC had only had 3 hits....he then stated...that can't be right, rechecked and said yes it was. We had the bases loaded twice but couldn't get a runner in at this point. I assume there were alot of walks.

Franzens first time on the mound in a month or more, He pitched pretty well. I'm sure they had him on a pitch count coming off an injury. Estes had control problems, hitting batters, and walks. Sellers was getting tired, pitched well but struggled some as well. Broering came in to finish up and pitched well. Hope that helps explain why they used so many pitchers.

GRC players and fans alike made a great showing today. Very exciting game; shame someone had to lose this one. Your third baseman (name ?) also made some very nice plays timing jumps to take away a couple of hits. Bell pitched well. CC players were impressed with him. Congratulations on a fine season. Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate them. Not sure who the 3rd baseman is. Robert Bell is a great kid, also good football player. I agree, in a game like this, you hate to see either team lose.
