Gallatin wins first round of districts behind the pitching of Giles and Lillard. Carroll and Gallatin in the Championship game Wednesday 6:30 at Henry County.

Owen County controlled this game for 6 innings. Owen's Royce Neeley pitched very well and deserved to win this game. Gallatin took advantage of timely hitting and heads up baserunning to tie the game in top of 7th. Neeley and Gallatin's Giles and Lillard pitched very well. Looking forward to seeing Gallatin/Carroll square off on Wednesday for the 31st District Championship.

Seems like Owen has lost alot of games in the last inning. Any word on if Neely will be pitching in college?

I think was especially the pattern for the Rebels when Neeley was pitching. I believe there were several times he was taken out after the 6th with a lead, which was lost more often than not.

Yes, there has been several times this year when Neeley has been pulled with a lead, and the relief pitching hasn't come through, but it seems like Owen's Coach never learned.:ohbrother:

From what I have heard Neeley has a few small schools interested in him, last time I talked to the kid he said Transy was his #1 choice. I have also heard that EKU has made contact with him. I guess it all depends on how well he performs this summer.

So who was the #1 for OC, Neely or Cox? IF it was Cox why did he not start the game against Gallatin?

Neeley has been Owen's ace all year, and is in my opinion the best pitcher in the 31st and one of the top in the 8th Region. Not taking anything away from Cox, he is very talented also(I believe he is going to play at the University of the Cumberlands). Owen had the pitching all year, they just never had the hitting.
