Could not help but start a thread on this but I would like to be the first to sincerely congratulate Jay Jones on his return to Carroll County Baseball. One would think he would receive serious consideration for 8th region coach of the year with a record of 21-4-1. Great Job.:thumb:

Sounds like he definately deserves consideration.

He's got my vote!! What a turnaround for the program.

I personally don't think you can give the award to anyone else. He has done a fantastic job and to see the improvement Carroll has had over 1 year is remarkable. I just hope that my team can finally take them down in the first round of the districts. Lol.

Jay Jones has done a great job. However, my vote would go to LW Barnes of Anderson County. Anderson County is 21-10 with wins over several ranked teams. Anderson's schedule is also very tough, they have played a lot of teams that are ranked or are power houses in thier regions. Carroll has done well but if you look at thier schedule you will see they are not playing the caliber of competition that Anderson County is.

Not taking anything away from Anderson but I think going in they were favorites to win the region along with Shelby. Both teams had players mentioned for best possible player in the region as well. So if you look at that they are doing what they are supposed to do basically meeting expectaions. Again not taking anything away from either team, I truly feel they are the teams to beat in the Regional tourney. If you look at what CC has done this year regardless of who they have played its remarkable. CC is currently undefeated in the region and has won the All A region, the NCKC tournament and is one game from a district championship. If a coach cannot win coach of the year after rebuilding this team the way he has it would be a disappointment. However at the end of the day its really just great to see Carroll County playing the way they are capable of playing.

I'm not saying that to bash on them because I know Coach Jones has done great things and they have improved a lot. Hasn't Anderson been expected to do that? I believe the turnaround of the Carroll Co. program is more remarkable. But I will say Coach Barnes has done a tremendous job with his squad. Regardless of who wins the coach of the year both coaches deserve it!
