The players, coaches, parents and the entire CovCath community, would like to express our deepest sympathy to the Darner family on the lose of Ryan's Grandmother. Ted, Sandy and Ryan, although we can't be there with you, our thoughts and prayers have been with you all, may God bless and comfort you in your time of sorrow.

Top of the 1st for NewCath: Rowe gets a double, followed by a WP by Nutini, then a single by Connor to score Rowe. Man on first no outs. Kelly singles men now on 1st and 3rd no outs. Nutini gets the next two batters to strike out, then Myers hits a double to score Connor and Kelly before Nutini gets Cain to hit into a 4-3 to end the inning.

NewCath takes a early 3-0 lead but that is all they get as Nutini settles down and with the help of some steady "D' NewCath only had two more hits against Nutini the rest of the way.

NewCath Rowe was the starting pitcher for NCC and he kept the Colonels in check until the third when Siemer hit a single down the right field line and Maile with a 1-1 count, hits a ball over the right field fence for a 2 run HR (#6 365).

After the end of three complete it was NewCath 3 CovCath 2

In the fourth CovCath did not score but in the CovCath half of the 5th CovCath scored the tying run by a single by Nutini, a 1-3 sac bunt by Siemer, then NewCath intentionally walks Maile. Men on 1st and 2nd with one out and Isler at the plate (Note: Darner was not at this game due to the funeral of his Grandmother). Isler flies out for the second out, but Holocher takes 3-1 curve out over the plate to right field to score Nutini to tie the game.

After five complete it's CovCath 3 NCC 3

In the bottom of the sixth CovCath scores two runs. Schlagbaum hits a single and Stayton gets on via E-5. Men on 2nd and 1st no outs. Martin lays down a bunt but Rowe pounces off the mound to force out Schlagbaum at third. 1st and 2nd and one out. Nutini flies out for the second out, but Siemer then hits a double to knock in Warning (PR) and Martin to take a two run lead. It was a nice piece of hitting by Siemere but Martin scored on a great slide into home as the throw indeed was outstanding. NCC again internationally walked Malie and then walked Isler on four straight balls, but Rowe got Lafever to go 5-3 for the third out.

At the end of six complete it was CovCath 5 NewCath 3

In the top of the seventh NCC went 5-3, 1-3 and 1-3 to end the game in the favor of CovCath.

The Good: This was the fourth straight complete game thrown by the CovCath starting pitchers, and Nutini did an outstanding job of keeping his cool after getting down by three in the first inning.

The CovCath "D" aided by Martin who filled in for Darner today. CovCath did not commit an error and turned two DP's. The first was a 6-4-3 in the third and a nice 5-3 play by Martin who fielded the ball, stepped on third for the force then threw a perfect strike to Isler for the third out.

The bats of Holocher and Siemer driving in three big runs in today.

Maile HR and single and like I said in another thread, Maile is not going to be seeing many quality pitches to hit for the rest of the season, gets walked twice intentionally.

The bad: Once again CovCath leaves just too many men on base (09 LOB).

The ugly: Theoldguy who won't get to attend the Beechwood game due to leaving to pick up my Daughter at Murray State on Friday. Gentlemen, while I bleed CovCath Blue and you all know how I feel about all of you, getting to bring my one and only best girl home from College, is just a tad more important to me. Win the next one, for Theoldguy...

After the first inning shake up Nutini was dealing.

I'm just as impressed with Mr. Rawe, not Rowe, this is his 3rd. straight impressive pitching preformance. A very solid #2 pitcher and we all know you need pitching at the end of the year. Great job Nate.

Zach Isler signed today to attend the University of Cincinnati next fall in front of family, friends and classmates in the CovCath library in a very nice and moving ceremony.

Coach Krumps did a great job of highlighting his four years at CovCath and Coach Listerman had a few kind words for Ice also.

Theoldguy has had a ball watching Ice play these last four years and is looking forward to seeing Ice pitch in Marge Schott Stadium on Johnny Bench Field.

Congrats Bill and Amy, you both know how I feel about Zach!

Come on TOG your slipping!

Just messing with you TOG...you do a great job with your game posts.
