Best at each position? Updated Mid-season thoughts

Who is now best at each position in your opinion? Changes after seeing teams play?

Catcher: Luke Maile CovCath Batting Average over 0.550 Slg Pct. is 1.000

3rd Base: Ryan Darner CovCath Batting Average over 0.500 with 45 rbi's and 5 hr

RHSP: Zach Isler 7-0 1.75 ERA

Sorry but the above three you just can't disagree with but if you do, then you haven't been watching much baseball this season.

My surprise pick:

2nd Base: Logan Siemer CovCath Batting Average near 0.400 The young man has made a huge difference to the CovCath infield and has been making play after play all season long. Made the single best stop of a sure base hit that I have seen in a long, long time and turned it into a DP

Conner Hempel- Ryle Sophmore

3b/1b/P

48 at bats .450 BA 3 dbls 2 triples 1 HR

5 AP 17+ innings 1-1 record ERA 1.62

Probably not the best at any one position in NKY yet, but he is probably the best sophmore in NKY, and has been Ryle's best overall player so far this year. Overall he has done an adequate job fielding the ball this year but some work needs to be done in that area. I will predict that he will be in the running for POY in 2010 and will win it 2011.

1st base - Tyler Brake from Conner. Outstanding 1st baseman. 510 ba, 4 hrs, 20+ rbis. One of if not the best pure hitters in the region. If Conner's 1 and 2 men in the order had better on base percentage he'd be slugging it out with Darner for the region rbi lead.

I would agree with your picks at this point of the season without question. What are your thoughts on other players at other positions?

Off the top of my head with out my score book to look at, the young man from Apollo, Morrow (man this kid can hit) is the best I have seen with a bat in his hand this year besides Maile and Darner. I forget what position he plays, but heck he can DH for me if he can't catch the ball. He truly impressed the heck out of me.

Dunaway the Catcher from Boone while he isn't anywhere near Maile behind the plate the young man can hit.

Jones Bellevue he has all the tools to play at the next level.

After I get a chance to go back via my scorebook I will post some more...

Beechwood's 1st baseman A.J. Smith has played outstanding first base for Myerhoff; not to mention pitching. I understand he is hitting very high for average also.

I also would love to add the :6th man for baseball", his name is Brandon Lafever.

Jeramie Conner hands-down at 2B. Not even close.

I agree without reservation. No contest!

So far then narrowing it down we have...

C Maile-Cov Cath

1b Brake-Conner/Isler-CovCath/Smith-Beechwood

2b Conner-New Cath

SS Jones-Bellevue

3b Darner-CovCath

CF Cotton-Boone/Nutini-CovCath

LF Lokesak-Boone

RF ?

P Isler/Hammonds/Roenker/Smith/Nutini
