As a person who works in the healthcare industry I don't automatically think of the Canadian shipwreck when i think of government control of healthcare and most of us in the industry don't. Regardless of any semantics you want to use even though there still may be "private" insurers they will be so regulated that there is no doubt that they will be government controlled. What happens when the government lowers reimbursment levels to the point that private providers can no longer afford to stay open? And before you scoff we aren't far from that with current Medicare and Medicade reimbursment levels.

In today's Cincinnati Enquirer, 4-3-09, Charles Krauthhammer writes of Obama's intention's "to recast the relationship between government and citizen." While he is not that concerned about the business situation, he feels that Obma wants to reshape the American way of life. He believes that Obama will have "a radical extension of the welfare state, social and economic leveling in the name of fairness, and a massive increase in the size, scope and reach of government.
