It was 8-0 headed into the top of the 6th, and Mason County put together a run to make it 8-5, including a homerun over centerfield fence by sophomore Alexis Anderson (her second in three games), but Bracken came back out and scored 4 more runs to defeat the Lady Royals. They haven't beat Bracken County since 2007, when they beat them in the regular season 9-2.

 

In the JV game, the Lady Royals were up 7-2 headed into the last inning, when Bracken made their comeback. Mason County made error after error and basically let Bracken waltz right in to take the win. Tough loss for the JV, but it looks like the Bracken/Mason rivalry will be strong for years to come!

Sorry but the Mason homerun was hit during the jv game. Did the girl that hit that play varsity last year? Surprised me when she didn't play any varsity minutes in this game.

Okay, sorry. All I knew was that there was a homerun by this girl, and just assumed it was varsity. She usually plays varsity at 3rd base, but I don't know why she didn't play tonight. That surprises me. She has played varsity for the last two years. Her 8th grade year she didn't play much, but last year she got some minutes, I think. She has started the last two games at third base, but am not sure why she wouldn't have started tonight. When she makes contact with the ball, she can really hit it.

Anytime Bracken wins over Mason is a good time. Way to go Lady Bears.

Hats off to the coaches at Bracken, Persinger really cares about thoes girls you can tell. Good luck to all the girls, at least one coach knows how to win...

I was talking with a friend from Bracken County about this one day last week. For whatever reason, girls' sports at BC are on the rise, while boys' sports are pretty dismal.
