Madison Central 72 Berea 45

Final. Madison Central advances to 44th District finals Friday against the Model vs Madison Southern winner.

MC was horrible shooting the ball in this game, it was only a 10 point lead at halftime....they can still do that and win these easy district games but if they want to get out of the 1st round of region (for only the 2nd time since 2002) they better shoot better...

I am not a Berea fan at all, but I was surprised how little class Madison Central players, fans, and coaches showed in this win. Central, I felt played dirty all game throwing elbows, pushing, and mouthing the entire game. Berea finally had enough and the Hamilton kid fought back(number 3 I believe), and then Central's coach walked out on the floor and did not get a technical called on him. I have watched Central play at least 10 times this year, and can not believe the players and coaches acted the way they did. Another thing is why Central played with this much emotion against Berea, and did not show this versus Scott Co., Lex Cath, and teams that really matter. I guess beating teams in the 44th district is all that matters. The Indians better grow up soon, because the pantry is getting pretty empty after this year.

^MC isn't great this year, that isn't some big surprise....they have no size and if they aren't hitting shots then they are going to struggle to beat anyone they will play in the 11th Region tournament. They could play their JV team and still win the 44th district most years.

And as for the team being down in the next few years:

Madison Middle wins Middle School State Title

Ok the middle school may have won the state title but how many off those kids from that team are going to stick to basketball? You always lose kids due to different sports, academics, and just all around burnt out middle school sports and high school sports are nothing alike.

If I'm not mistaken so did Keyshawn Simpson's group won the Bluegrass Conference which is in many ways the same thing (who is now a Senior). Also, the best players from the last few years at the Middle School levels are not even playing basketball anymore, and many never even dress at Central. That is a great accomplishment for those Middle School Kids, but it means nothing.

From where I was sitting it was #3 who was throwing the elbows and he and #10 Smith tripped each other as Smith was trying to keep from getting elbowed in the face !

That is absolutely correct, this was the 3rd elbow from Berea to a Central player in the game. As for the MC coach, a timeout was called, so the ball was not still in play. He also had a right to be concerned for his players taking 3 elbows to the head that the officials had not called.

Considering Hawkins played up for Madison Central all year then played down for this tournament, what does it prove? This same Madison team lost in the semi-finals of their conference tournament to Elkhorn on Thursday night without Hawkins. I just wish teams would decide if your are gonna play up then stay up dont just come and go as you please, what does this show the kids who played at the middle school all year? Anyway back to the topic, MC's coach has acted like this before and will continue to act that way. I guess you can't argue with results though right, keep on winning that district every year.
