BombSquad Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 What a difficult road this has been for Conner. They lost their (very good) point guard to shoulder surgery. Their center goes down with a season ending knee injury. They have three former players that are currently "star" players at other schools in the region. And, still, Conner is 15-9 on the season. Five of the nine losses have been since they lost their starting point guard, Devin Beasley. That was a big loss. Conner beat Holy Cross by 19 points with Beasley, and lost to Holy Cross by 2 points without Beasley. It looks like Conner had a (very) weak 3rd quarter in the second Holy Cross game. I don't know if Conner has enough time to figure it out and overcome the recent blows to their program prior to the Tournament, or not. But I would not want to bet against them. When you look at the obstacles that Conner has had to deal with, and see that they are still very competitive in the ninth region, I think you have to give a lot of credit to coach Kim Warfield. You hear a lot of talk about the coaches at some of the other, more "fortunate", programs in the ninth region. But, who has done more with the hand they were dealt than coach Kim Warfield? Good Luck to Conner!
Clyde Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Did Conner lose a freshman to injury? If so, was it in a varsity game?
Sonny Crockett Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Ellory Kring is a freshman/ Varsity starter who has missed several games due to injuries. There has been at least two, maybe more, Freshman who missed a lot of time due to injury and illness, but they didn't play much, if any, Varsity time that I know of.

Actually Kring has only missed 2 games. There was another game where she did not start but played the majority of the game. She has been playing hurt much of the second half of the season though.
