Short-term membership growth doesn't mean much to me, just as short-term economic growth for various reasons does not equate to long-term economic growth.

P.S. is it pitiful that I constantly relate religion to economics because they are my two primary interests?

To me, it means that all major religions have elements of truth. Islam, for example, was developed by Mohammed as he traveled around the Middle East as a caravan driver. The similarities between Islam and Judeo-Christianity are numerous and striking (and, worth noting, often ignored by many).

I don't know enough about Mormonism to comment on whether or not they are Christian (without taking into account the various definitions of what is a Christian).

I'll stop (so long as I get the last word ) . PM me or start a new thread if you wish for us to continue to :deadhorse: together!

I may address the other stuff a little later in another thread or PM. Let's see if we can't get this back on track.

In your mind what are the qualifiers for a religion to be a Christian one? If Mormonism is a cult and is a Christian religion...:D

Is that like saying "I'm sorry that you're mad at me.":idunno:

You know that is something I have found myself saying many times in my life.

Like I said I don't know enough. You can't trap me :D

A recent television commercial promoting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints proclaimed the Book of Mormon as: “The OTHER GOSPEL of Jesus Christ.”

I have read as much of the Book of Mormon as I could handle, it is most certainly another gospel.

The Apostle Paul said:

Galatians 1:6 NIV

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel--

Galatians 1:8 NIV

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!

Galatians 1:9 NIV

As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

Given a choice between Paul and Joseph Smith, I trust Paul.

The fact that many of the more advanced teachings and beliefs of the LDS church that divert from traditional Christianity are withheld from average LDS members... is a practice that certainly lends the church "cult-like" qualities IMO.

AllTell, great question, but its also easy.

The Christian wasn't a true Christian. A true believer of Christ wouldn't kill anyone. To be called a Christian means you are like Jesus. The so called man commited a sin in taking a life, but we are taught not to judge anyone and really to judge whether a person goes to Hades or not is something we don't do. Thats the work of Jesus and we sin even if we give an answer.

The "Christian" should be put to death for the sinful act of premedated murder.
