February 9, 200917 yr I agree 100%. They just beat the Cavs by 10+ a couple weeks ago. Orlando doesn't have anybody like Lebron or Pierce to take over in big games...Howard is a great player, but he isn't going to take over games with his offensive skill like those guys can. The absence of a big time go-to guy on offense may not seem like a huge thing during the season, but it gets magnified in the playoffs. That will be the difference in Orlando vs. Boston or Cleveland. As for the Lakers, I think the win in Cleveland was just as impressive, perhaps moreso, than the win in Boston. JMO Especially when you realize they did it without great performances from Kobe. I don't think this Lakers team has reached its potential yet...considering how good they already are, I think they have quite a bit of room to get better. That's scary for the rest of the league...and exciting for Lakers fans...:popcorn:

I'm not selling him short at all. He's a great player. However, the MVP race is between Kobe and Lebron. Howard may deserve some lip service, just to pay honor to the season he's having, but he's not in the race with Kobe and Lebron, IMO. My real point is the playoffs and Howard isn't the type of guy who's going to take over a game with his offense like Lebron or Kobe or Paul Pierce. The Magic may have some guys who can score during the season, but when the lights get brighter in the playoffs, I don't trust Lewis, Turkoglu or anybody else to carry that team if the rest of the roster is struggling. I just don't see a clutch performer on Orlando's roster. Detroit is the only team I can remember in the past 20+ years that didn't have a guy who could take over and dominate the game offensively...but they did have one of the most clutch performers in the league in Chauncey Billups. The rest of the champions had a combination of both... The Bad Boys had Isaiah. The Bulls had MJ. The Rockets had Hakeem. The Spurs had Tim Duncan (and Ginobli and Parker). The Lakers had Kobe and Shaq. The Heat had D-Wade. The Celtics had Pierce (and KG and Allen). I'm just not seeing it in Orlando. JMO
February 11, 200917 yr The Lakers are finding a way to win without Bynum. They get him back before playoffs then they have to be the favorite. I believe they signed Morrison so that should help take up som of the void.
