February 5, 200917 yr Interesting. So, nothing earth shattering will happen if it's delayed a few months. No cosmic forces will implode, or explode. So, what's the big deal to wait another few months? See post 17. This will probably cause even more confusion because everyone has it in their mind that the transition will take place Feb. 17. Mass confusion and hysteria will plague America and will possibly destroy the USA from the inside out.
February 5, 200917 yr Interesting. So, nothing earth shattering will happen if it's delayed a few months. No cosmic forces will implode, or explode. So, what's the big deal to wait another few months? We've already waited for like 2 years.
February 5, 200917 yr Author RM, if you don't watch TV anyway and just watch movies then this doesn't affect you at all. Until you want to watch TV. Well, I do like my Criminal Minds, The Mentalist and Numb3rs. Y'all still can watch what you want. Why do you care if I get 4 more months?
February 5, 200917 yr Here's something you might find interesting, RockMom, and anyone else who bought a TV that they mistakenly thought was digital: The Commission's digital tuner rule specifies that as of March 1, 2007, all new TVs must include digital tuners. This rule prohibits the manufacture, import, or interstate shipment of any device containing an analog tuner, unless it also contains a digital tuner. Despite this prohibition on manufacture and shipment, retailers may continue to sell analog-only devices from existing inventory. As a result, at the point of sale, many consumers may not be aware that this equipment will not be able to receive over-the-air-television signals after February 17, 2009. February 5, 200917 yr Well, I do like my Criminal Minds, The Mentalist and Numb3rs. Y'all still can watch what you want. Why do you care if I get 4 more months? Don't know if it's true or not, but I've been under the impression that there will be a lot more HD channels available once TV goes digital. Not immediately, but you can't have HDTV without Digital TV...

February 5, 200917 yr   You might think it's funny now... But when the ill-prepared Grandma can't watch her Young and the Restless it's not going to be pretty...:thumb:
February 5, 200917 yr Author I applied for 2 vouchers about a month ago and got them in the mail 2 weeks ago. Well, sometime in January, there were some big stories all over the news about the fund running dry. I figured I'd waited too late.
February 5, 200917 yr Author You might think it's funny now... But when the ill-prepared Grandma can't watch her Young and the Restless it's not going to be pretty...:thumb:  I think the chaos is going to come from the people who are mad at me for standing in the way of progress. By the way....I was the person y'all were cussing yesterday for slowing down traffic on 275 and 71/75 during the blizzard.

Not immediately, but you can't have HDTV without Digital TV... So, if my tv didn't contain that warning that they mention, does that mean I have any recourse?
February 5, 200917 yr This is horrible news. After a year of advertising February 17th they've moved it back?! Because idiots in this country didn't get the box and then complained.
February 5, 200917 yr Author Because idiots in this country didn't get the box and then complained. Thank you. And, I didn't complain.
February 5, 200917 yr So, if my tv didn't contain that warning that they mention, does that mean I have any recourse? That's an interesting question. I don't know the answer, but I'd assume so. I don't know that it'd be worth it, but it's worth a shot. The Warning says: "For more information, call the Federal Communications Commission at 1-888-225-5322 (TTY: 1-888-835-5322) or visit the Commission's digital television website at: www.DTV.gov" I'd give that a shot, if you'd like to pursue your options...
February 5, 200917 yr I'm an idiot, so please bear with me. You want the highway for what? There is a limited amount of width available across the part of the electromagnetic spectrum where you find TV and other transmissions. With those transmissions being compressesd into digital format, the rest of the space will go to government and private entities for their own uses.
