Williamstown 51 Grant County 45

Final

Good ballgame. Grant jumped out to an early lead, but Lady Demons were able to answer. Score tied at the end of the first, second and third quarters, as neither team able to pull away.

In the fourth, W-town got some big buckets by Stith, West and Melissa Snow. Grant with not enough time left to come back. Still, Lockard was a monster down inside for them.

Great effort by both squads! Congrats to Coach Wilhoit and the Lady Demons on their win. I think it'll be a great rematch in Dry Ridge at the end of the month.

Sounds as if it were a great rivalary game! How many rebounds did Wilhoit get? Did Grant play well?

Grant did play well! Shot opportunities were there all night, but just couldn't get them to fall. It will be interesting next time around. Gorby, PG for Grant, played extremely well last night & is getting back to form & more confident every game after suffering an ACL injury in soccer this past September (she is playing with no ACL-surgery will be done after the season). She made great decisions running the floor for Grant. Gorby found Lockard over & over in the paint & made some amazing passes in the game last night. She as well as the rest of the team just couldn't get 'em to stay in the bucket. Grant's shot percentage had to be pretty bad.

Williamstown is a tough place to play...the atmosphere is rowdy & it is lots of fun. That was a great game last night. Great job by both teams! Williamstown made the big baskets in the fourth to put it away!

This is according to the Enquirer.

"Tori Wilhoit also contributed to the win with a double-double. The sophomore scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds".

Grant played pretty well. Lockard beat Williamstown down the floor and Gorby would find her to get some good looks at the basket.

Didn't she tear an ACL in basketball last year?

Nice to see Tori playing so well coming back off her ankle injury! She plays hard & knows how to position herself on the floor to pull down those rebounds in spite of being outsized in a lot of games. Positioning is everything & she's got it!

Yes. She suffered this injury in soccer. The injury itself was unrelated to the first, it would have happened whether she had the first one or not. She planted her foot in a slight hole on the field & suffered a complete tear of the ACL, partial MCL-which is now healed. She is very, very strong & her knee is stable. It is much more a mental challenge than physical.

Absolutely! Sometimes rebounding figures can be misleading, depending on who is doing the counting and what they consider a rebound. However, that being said, from what I have seen, Tori is not afraid to get in there and get the ball and is very much worthy of her numbers. It was great watching her and Workman do battle down in the paint. That could be an interesting matchup for the next couple of years. Hard to believe both are just sophomores this year!

I'm glad to see that Tori is back. She's a great asset to that team. Go Lady Demons.
