Ryle Raiders

How are the Ryle girls doing this season. Last year they got a lot of press and had a couple of young players in Moss and Crittendon. I havent noticed Crittendon's name in the boxscores, is she still enrolled at Ryle or hurt?

Ryle is 7-1 going into today's tilt with Boone County. Doing surprisingly well considering the players they've had out. Moss has just been back 3 games and is working into game shape. Crittendon is out with a broken left wrist, expected back about the second week of January (hopefully sooner). Meyer has had a hand/wrist injury and missed a couple of games before coming back this weekend.

Thanks for the info. Nice record so far. How will they do when they play Highlands?

Ryle is young and athletic. Highlands size, depth and experience too much for Ryle.

Highlands by 14.

IMO Ryle is 1-2 years away from having a fantastic team.

Ryle doesn't have a point guard.

You can't have a "fantastic" team if you don't have anyone that can bring the ball up the floor.

I don't know what their plan is. Maybe Crittendon will fill the void at point when she comes back? They need somebody that can handle the ball and handle the pressure.

They do have a point guard, she just happens to be a sophomore handling the position for the first time. She will get better with experience. And, yes, Crittendon will help with the pressure when she comes back.

And, while an experienced point is a big part of handling pressure, overall experience is as well. Ryle is very, very young overall and doesn't have that one veteran stabilzer like, say a Jacy Bradley at Boone. When Crittendon is back Ryle will start three ninth-graders and two sophomores with two eight-graders among the first several off the bench. The Raiders have 12 sophomores and under players on their roster.

I'd say that speaks well for the possibilty of them being very good in a year or two, if they stay together, stay healthy, and mature in a normal fashion.

I am not a Ryle fan. I just know what I see. A point guard will develope out of that group of athletes and they will have a lot of success.

I watched Ryle play Notre Dame and Boone County this year. In those games the freshman that transferred from Walton Verona (#4) ran at the point for most of each game. I assume the sophomore that you are referring to is #23. She didn't play point in those two games. In fact, it looked like she didn't want *ANYTHING* to do with handling the ball. Looks like she just wants to catch and shoot. Maybe they have tried her at point in easier games, I don't know.

From what I saw of Crittendon last year, she looks like she would be Ryle's best bet to take over the point position. Good handle, makes good decisions, and confident. They don't have anyone (except Moss) with that combination until Crittendon comes back.

Actually, Moss ran the point for Heritage two years ago as a seventh grader. I think she would create a very interesting mismatch for just about any point guard in Northern KY this year. Instead, Ryle has her playing on the block.

Ryle could be tough once Moss and Crittendon are at full strength. They also have a very good looking eighth grader (#25). They will make everyone around them better.

I saw the Ryle vs. Boone game and Moss played the perimeter in that game most of the time. Moss is a swing player and that is what she did in that game. Anybody that actually knows the game would have seen that. When #4 was on the bench #23 ran the point for Ryle.

You are the same person who said that when Jump hit 6 consecutive 3's in a game that that was not great shooting. Again, how many times have you hit 6 consecutive 3's in a competitive situation? This is the point WV Frank was trying to make. Ryle is a very, very young team that is good now and going to be great so
