Huge win for the Braves. Off to a great start, keep it up. Coach Kinmon has a solid core of kids and his getting the most out of them.

Congrats to the Braves. Showed tremendous poise after South jumped out to the early lead. Good luck as you move further into the season!! The Braves are stamping themselves early as a legitimate contender for the '09 crown! A win over Shelby this week would certainly strip away any uncertainty as to the Braves' qualifications.

Unofficial scoring:

GRANT COUNTY (5-0) - Cody Kinmon 25, Thompson 18, Davis 17, Henry 7, Wartman 4, Soden 3, Caleb Kinmon 2, Livingood 2, Prince 1 Overall FG 35%, Threes: 36%, FT% 81% (22/27)

SOUTH OLDHAM (3-2) - Jackson 21, Kraemer 20, Jewett 13, Adams 11, Miller 2, Fields 2 Overall FG% 31.9%, threes: 32.3%, FT% 52% (13/25)

Comments:

- Atrocious FT% by South. Hit just 13 of 25.

- Unbelievable fourth quarter by SOHS' Casey Jackson, a 6-4 junior, who had been 0 for 9 heading into the period with just 3 points on FTs. He hit his first 7 shots in the period - including four threes - to rally South from a 24 point disadvantage to less than a 10 point deficit. He very nearly willed the Dragons to an amazing come-from-behind win.

- Impressive shooting display by Cody Kinmon. He came off the bench and missed all four of his first half shots, but erupted in the second half, hitting 6 of 7 shots, including four of five threes...

- Along with Cody Kinmon, Mike Davis was key in the key third period, when Grant turned a 23-22 halftime deficit into a 50-35 lead after 3Q. Davis worked the offensive glass all night long, and hit several follow shots. For the game, he was unofficially 8 of 11 shooting for his 17 points...

South actually outrebounded Grant, according to our numbers, but that remains a problem for South. They really have to shoot better if they're to compete for the region crown. Grant, on the other hand, will have to handle presses better. Six fourth quarter turnovers against the South panic press nearly made a 24 point lead disappear.

Good luck to both teams!!! It was a fun game to watch, and both have a lot to look forward to!

Great job GC
