Menifee starts the season with 2 wins over Sayre and Nicholas. Not sure if that has happened in my lifetime. Rowan on Monday will be a very good measuring stick.

How did Nicholas look?

Somebody told me over Thanksgiving dinner that Nicholas Co.'s best player quit. Can't remember his last name though. Sparks maybe.

■ Nicholas County junior forward Kyle Campbell scored 26 points to surpass 1,000 points for his career, but the host Bluejackets lost to Menifee County 78-65.

Menifee is for real this year, according to my sources who saw them play some summer ball.

Menifee will surprise a lot of people in the 16th this year.

Agreed. It's fun to watch them. They're really deep and with the kind of style they play, that's going to make it tough for some teams. Looking forward to seeing how they do with Rowan on Monday.
