I have talked to Coach Scarberry and he feels that this years team is only going to get better with experience. Model has two seniors and the rest will return next season, along with Freshman Phenom Cody Sizemore. He is out with a foot injury this season. Model beat Madison Southern twice last year with a Senior dominated team. What are some peoples thoughts on the 2008-2009 Patriots?

Coach Scarberry was awarded the Best Coach of Madison County in 2008. I feel that in a few years that with his coaching experience and proven record that he will should be offered available jobs around Central KY. He beat Madison Southern twice last year, which at Model is like Kentucky beating Tennessee in Football once! Rumor has it that the Madison Southern job will be available in a season or two and he will be a top candidate. What are some peoples thoughts?

Bath County beat them pretty easily Tuesday night. Coach Scarberry needs to beat some good teams other than Madison Southern and have a winning record before he starts thinking about getting a better job.

I thought Model lost 5 seniors and all there scoring from last year. Who do they have this year stepping in and doing the scoring?

Ouch, that's a lot to overcome for a school like Model

Do we have two similar threads going?

IMO, coach will have a pretty significant challenge getting this team to be competitive. If he is able to accomplish that, it may do more for him than his record.

Bath County had all 5 starters back from last seasons team. Model has 3 starters that didn't even play basketball last year. It was a 10 point game in the 3rd quarter before Models point guard got in foul trouble. I have also heard rumor that Coach Scarberry plans to build a program at Model and prove his worth with the 8th grade and Freshman class. He was athletic director at East Jessamine before taking over at Model. His connections around the state are very good and winning at Model proves you can win at larger schools. Go Patriots!:thumb:

Same old story....if they manage to beat Madison Southern or Berea in the 1st round of districts, they will get rolled by Madison Central in the finals and get overwhelmed again in the 1st round of the 11th region tourney.

Model, needs to get a grip. They are still Model. They are improved but they are at best the 4th team in the district. I think Berea is better than they are.

WRONG!!! Blandon Clemons their leading scorer from last season graduated and Joe Mabry another starter did not play against Model.

I'm a graduate of Model....why would he leave being an AD at East Jessamine to be the coach at Model? I have no idea what kind of offense he runs...but in my time at the school there was only one winning season. You can not try and run up and down the floor. The year we had a winning season we probably only averaged 45 points per game. You have to set up a motion offense and run it the turn around and play solid defense in the half court. The second you try to run against bigger schools is the second Model gets blown out of the gym

As I mentioned, I went to Model...I don't see a problem with them voting to have a blind draw as long as the KHSAA allows it. IMO, I believe the KHSAA needs to step in and have seeding for every district but until then Model will always vote to draw for that chance to get a good draw then share some of the region profits.
