You can try to hack on Jenkins all you want as you have tried in other threads and twist facts. The fact remains is Jenkins went off the first period with 14 points on just two misses. He took only 2 shots in the 2nd period making one (hitting a fadaway from the free-throw line) when he played just over 3 minutes. He finished with 25 points on just 17 shots.

 

Keep trying to knock the kid, but his 1st quarter blitz will be something you see a lot this year. Extremely unselfish player in today's game to a fault.

Jenkins is a fine player and today he was very unselfish and tried to get everybody involved I thought he should have shot the ball more. IMO he doesnt have much help.

This makes the 2nd game where Jenkins has exploded early then settled in and worked to get his teammates involved. He averaged 23 points in two scrimmage games and could have easily averaged much more. I think that's what being a leader is all about. Knowing you have to have help from your teammates if your going to accomplish big things down the road especially in a region like the 7th.

 

The starting five with Samsel at the point and Jenkins at the 2G opened up big leads in both practice games against Lexington Catholic and Perry Central. Coaches experimented with the lineups in both games and the leads changed just as you saw today with Jenkins and Samsel coming out to start the 2nd period. I don't think that will happen during the regular season.

 

You do have to applaud Jenkins for being unselfish and putting the team first. He does have a strong chance for Mr. Basketball, but his priority during preseason has been more about team goals than self accolades.

This statement is true. Coaches are still looking at what combination of players will work. Adding or maintaining the lead in yesterday's game was not the objective as seeing what other players and lineups could do was. That is what practice or scrimmage games are there for and you're only allowed two of them.

Jenkins if a great player and many of us thought that he was really unselfish last night. Tryed to get the other players involved and made some great feeds and assist.

 

Not trying to be negative, but just honest. Much like Madisonville I don't think Manual has the supporting cast (just slightly better than Madisonville's) to go along with Jacob. They are rated in the Top 6 in the state, but not having seen all the other teams it makes one wonder if they should be that high. Elliott would have beat them by 25 points last night. No way to prove that because the only time they would even play would be March in Rupp. Jenkins much like Ferg has a beautiful long range rainbow jumper that most of the time finds the bottom of the net. This is absolutely on the money. I believe it was two years ago that Manual was just getting started with a new coach and lost both their preseason games before opening the season unranked.

 

Then #4 Doss rolled into Manual and Jenkins went for 27 points as Manual won that game by double-digits.

 

After that, North Hardin made a trip to Manual. Again Jenkins lit it up with 31 points and Manual defeated another higher rated opponant.

I agree. Hood is the best player I have seen. After him there are a host of players that you could argue for #2 in the state including Phares, Jackson, Euton, Cosby, Sanford, Ev. Faulkner, Et. Faulkner, Ferguson, Pittman, R. Johnson, Jenkins among others. I don't think that after Hood there is a clear #2, #3, #4, and on and on.

Jenkins was the unanimous selection in both coaches' polls as the #2 player in the state and his spring and summer play was proof of it. Somehow he managed to earn first place votes points against one of the most PR'd players in recented history. Jenkins and Hood are in every major event together in Kentucky this season and there is a reason for that.

Imagine that. One of the state's top two players putting team first instead of scoring 40 points. What's wrong with this world?!?

Perry will have a great year with the team they put on the floor in this game.They do not need anymore players it will mess up the rhythm of the team.
