They should be part of some district. When Cooper openend this year, it was my understanding that they had to be part of a District. They fell in NKY's 6A, but should have been in a much smaller District. Had they not had to participate in a District, they could have avoided playing the 6A schools for their inaugural year. They did not even get the chance to start with a JV season prior to stepping into Varsity.

What they are saying is that they are going to field a varsity team, they just arent going to play the district teams assigned by the KHSAA. In doing this, they become ineligible to compete in the state playoffs. When you field a varsity team and choose to sit out of the district, it is a 4 year commitment. I remember Lawrence County doing it several years back and it worked out very well for them. The first year the didnt compete for a championship they went 0-11, second year they were 3-8, third year they went 6-5, and the fourth year of their commitment they went 11-0. They re-joined their district the next year and were very successful for years following. *Dont quote me on those records for Lawrence County....Im not a Lawrence fan so they may not be exactly correct but they are very close if not right on!

It is a great season for the kids. They (the kids) have no control on the schedule. They show up everyday and work their tails off in practice so I take nothing away from them. I tip my hat to to the kids for their dedication & sacrifice to the program. I hope the community and the administration does the same.
