In a driving snow/rain storm, yes I said snow, last night Bell defeated Letcher County. Both teams were undefeated for 2 straight years. I will have to say that Letcher gave Bell the best test they have had in 2 years. Great facility,

but the officiating, whew! 2 hrs 40 min JV game, unreal. Bell coaches after the game said they called 18 penalties on us and 4 on them. Really no way to do kids. It was way to obivious that they were trying to keep the home teams record in tack. Bell had 4 goal line stands on Letcher. Cody Davenport was a beast. He caught 3 TD's and had 2 int. and at least 10 tackles. Carton had 2 TD'S and ran for 210 yards. Ben Madon was 8 of 9 passing for 212 yds. 3 TD's, and a extra point. Josh Brown was all over the field, again! he added a couple of 2 point conv. Corey Davenport, Scotty Henderson, Dean Clark and Carter o-line, lonnie Miracle, Marsee all played well. Letcher was really big up front and Had a unreal Frosh Q.B. They will make some noise in years to come. But Coach Howard needs to do something about his officiating or he will never get anybody to play then at home.

Wow what a game it sounds like. Must have been one to see.

Good win for the young Bobcats. Lots of talent on the way in the future.

 

Is the officals for all HS game's not suppose to be KHSAA liscened officals? You would think if they were going to get the good ol'boy's they would atleast keep the calls close. Coaches must have done a good job of keeping the players minds in the game and not on the officals.

Ive watched lots of football and have come to realize that sometimes one team does really commit that many penalities. It has alot to do with how aggresive a team is and the style of offensive they run so still a good win.

You know maybe Bell had 18 penalties and maybe LCC only had had 4? Just because it's lop-sided doesn't have to mean it's home cookin'.

Was the final score 38-2, if so that souds like a beat down. However if Bell had to stop them 4 times inside the 10 WOW that is pretty incredible and probably not as bad a beat down as the score might indicate. This game makes the win Harlan County had over Bell's JV all the more impressive.

Yes, sorry about that I think it was HC's freshman team that beat Bell. I dont know about the (minus a few players) but I do remember it being the freshman team that beat Bell and not the JV team.

Referees are assigned through the 14th region association. Not by Coach Howard.
