Danville 36 Russellville 28

Alright, I was at the game for the first half and I listened to the 2nd half on the radio. In the first quarter, Danville looked like a lock to compete for a state title this season. In the second quarter, Danville looked like a startup program that was playing its first season of organized football. It was 21-0 Danville in the 2nd quarter. Simon had already rushed for close to 150 yards including about an 82-yard TD run. Leading 21-0, Danville moved the ball 60 yards on the ground in about 7-8 plays. Simon and the other backs were running all over the Russellville defense. Once they reached the red zone, they decided to pull a pass out of nowhere on a play that only had 2 receivers downfield. The pass was easily intercepted in the endzone. This was the turning point of the game.

Russellville then completed a 70 or 80-yard TD pass to make it 21-7. After 4 Danville turnovers in the 2nd quarter, it was 21-21 at the half. I'm sure the paint was probably blown off the walls during halftime (or at least it should've been) and the Ads came out and took a lead. Russellville fought hard and could've very easily picked up a big road win. Danville scored a 2-point conversion to make it 36-28. Russellville did have an opportunity at the end, but didn't have great clock management and they were out of timeouts. They came up just short in the end, but still a great effort.

This Danville team continues to baffle me. One minute they look like world beaters and the next they look like a junior varsity team. I'm still keeping the faith that they'll be there at the end of the season and its hard to complain about a 5-2 record, but they still have some work to do.

You know, I've thought that way about Danville for a few years now. Of course they're always good and will annually make playoff noise. But tt's been awhile since they were just solid in every facet of the game all season long. I wonder if those days will ever return to Danville?

I've only lived in Danville through last season and this season, so I can't say much about the championship teams. What I can say is that they have a ton of talent but it gets negated by mistakes. They haven't really put a complete game together in 2 seasons. Sometimes, they appear to lack fundamentals, but other times they'll pull out plays that talented college players make. In the first quarter tonight, it appeared that they would win 65-0. Then the train derailed.

Looks like you're bad luck for danville Wireman:D

That appears to be the case. Although I had nothing to do with that State Title game 2 years ago :sssh:

These Ads are going to be fine...I believe these guys will be clicking on all cylinders by playoff time...:thumb:

I agree Adopted Admiral, I think special teams play this season has been horrible especially kick off coverage and has put us in bad situations. When we get the open week at the end I hope this will be addressed in depth

I do love the fact that they have the open week at the end of the schedule to help playoff preparation :thumb:
