Belfry 48 Pikeville 7

Way to go Pirates

If you are watching Belfry's scores and thinking they are the best team in their class and thinking they have a prepaid ticket to Louisville, then please read this and take a dose of reality.

This is a Belfry team who has potential, but are a long way from reaching it. Don't judge them from their lopsided scores, in particular this game. They still have a lot of work to do.

They are improving each week, and they will be in the thick of things when the playoffs roll around, but their schedule is making them look better than they really are at this point.

I have a question for any Pikeville fans.

How many people were injured and didn't play last night, that played earlier in the year against Lexington Catholic and Corbin? The Panthers turned in better performances against those teams and I'm thinking they must have had quite a few more players at that time. That is the only explanation I have. I'm not taking jabs when I say this, but the Panther team I saw last night may have been the weakest Pikeville team I have ever seen on the field, so I'm looking for reasons why.

I know Harmon didn't play, and the only real go-to guy, Baker, got injured in the 3rd Qtr and left the game. But other than that, who were the Panthers missing?

And speaking of Baker, how is he? Looked like he may have separated his shoulder, but that is a guess.

I am pretty sure that Harmon was the only regular that did not play. I heard that Baker is ok. I will have to agree that this Pikeville team is way down and their schedule isn't helping them out much. Without Harmon they couldn't even give Belfry much of a fight.
