BluegrassPreps.com/Kentucky News Network Player of the week!

From KNN Al:

Hi gang--it's that time of year for the 2008 KNN High School Scoreboard Show.

We'll again be using your nominees for Player Of The Week, and the official rankings will come from BluegrassPreps.com.

We'll be heard on at least 30 stations around Kentucky, with more on the way. I'll post a full station list as soon as it's finalized.

As always, I'd like for all of you to post the stations in your area that air high school games. We'll use reports from those stations in the show as much as possible. If you know the identity of the announcers that's a bonus.

When nominating a Player Of the Week candidate, please include the players name, school, size, (ht/wt), class, (soph/jr/sr) and position. Then give an accurate listing of the stats he posted that week. Carries, yards, etc.

We'll use all the nominees and give them a mention, and then one will be chosen for POW.

Thanks for all the help in advance, and enjoy the season!

KNN Scoreboard Show

Ricky Bowling 5'10" 175 lb Senior QB South Laurel HS completed 32/38 passes for 84.2%, 424 yards passing, 7 TD passes and 0 INT's, also had a rushing TD in a 61-60 overtime lose to Pulaski County.

I have an odd nomination, but I think it is a player that deserves recognition.

Tate Preston is the Raceland kicker, 5'8" 170lb, Sr. Tate is not a great athlete, and is not a great kicker, but he just wanted to help his team, he has played varsity football for four years and has never started in any position. Raceland has been blessed with two very good kicker for the past seven years. Tate is a straight on kicker has absolutely no chance of a college scholarship.

Tate has worked all summer and fall to be the best kicker that he can be.

He kicked the winning FG to propel Raceland to a victory over the 1A number two team, 37-35. The 25 yrd FG was not a long one, but it was the difference to give Raceland a commanding lead in the district and more then likely putting them in the first place spot for the district championship, and possibly home field advantage for the first three rounds of the playoffs.

Tate is not big, but he looked ten feet tall after the game.

Jake Cobb 6'0" 170lb Senior WR South Laurel HS had 10 catches for 160 yards and 4TD catches, also picked off a pass while on defense in a 61-60 lose to Pulaski County HS.

Nothing odd about that nomination at all. I'm happy to place his name on the list! :thumb:

Tyler Ray 5'8" 160lb Junior WR from Garrard County High School had 10 catches for 233 yards and 3TD catches in a 65-56 loss to Taylor County High School.

I second that one with 2 thumbs!!:thumb::thumb:

I'm usually just lurking, but I have to agree - Tate's FG was game changing. I'm not sure that I agree that he's not a great athlete - the program lists him as both in the 1000lb club and the "Dirty Dozen". He's started on special teams for four years and has had plenty of playing time.

Your absolutely correct, and I should have worded it better. I, of course, was not trying to be derogatory toward Tate. I was not a great athlete either, but you have play above your talent level, and that is what I think Tate is doing.

Our KNN Scoreboard Show/BGP dot com Player Of the Week is Pulaski County QB Chris Muse. In a 61-60 OT win over South Laurel--Muse rushed for 205 yards and 4 TDs, and he passed for 171 yards and a TD.
