Bethlehem vs. Garrard predictions

Featured Replies

Bethlehem gets some injured players back this week, which should help, but they may not be ready to pull off an upset on the road yet.

How many starters does Garrard return? I recall them having a couple nice RBs last year.

All 3 running backs return. Only five seniors graduated last year, and they were mainly on offense. Defense returns all but 2 starters.

Garrard Co. 22-20.

Garrard will rotate two kids at quarterback: Cash Staley (Sr.) and Tyler Ray (Jr.). Staley played okay in his first career start last week and Ray added a different dimension with his running ability from the quarterback position. Ray is also a fine receiver.

Garrard has a handful of good running backs, including Jamarious Merritt (Sr.), Fred Hayes (Jr.) and Jansen Penman (Sr.). There speed and strength make it difficult for a defense (especially those not as good as Bell County) to single just one of them out.

The defense will be a big "if" this week. Garrard has really struggled on defense in the past few years and allowed 50 points last week. They did look much better against Bell than anticipated; the size of Bell really wore them down in the second half. I don't expect anything like that from Bethlehem so the defense should put up good numbers.

Bottom line, Garrard should win this game. This is the first of four consecutive home games for the Lions (Bethlehem, Jackson County, Somerset and Taylor County). If they could make a little hay this month Garrard could build some solid momentum for the second half of the season and position themselves well for the postseason.

I think GC will win this one sounds like they have a pretty good team reading the thread of the Bell game. GC by 2 TDs
