August 12, 200818 yr Top 10? Possible. Top 5? Very, very, very, very unlikely. The Rams don't have the weapons outside that they used to for starters. Holt isn't as good as he once was and they don't really have another proven receiver who can put up big numbers...Drew Bennett, Donnie Avery, Randy McMichael. I'd bet on Steven Jackson being their second leading receiver if he plays and stays healthy. Bulger isn't going to finish ahead of Brady, Manning, Romo or Brees. And, it's very unlikely he'll finish ahead of Palmer, Roethlisberger, and Hasselbeck. And McNabb if he stays healthy. I didn't say it was going to happen. But he is top 10 and for someone to waive him is crazy. Especially for Troy Smith.
August 12, 200818 yr 5 wide, I think you have a VERY NICE team. I'm debating dropping Boss and picking up Utecht...what do you think? I was back and forth between those two for the last pick. It's not like it's a huge decision. I'm hoping Crumpler can be pretty close to what he was in Atlanta. I'm just taking a flyer on one of those two TE's and was hoping to guess right and get the one who breaks out.

I wouldn't rate him in the top 10 among fantasy QB's, but it's possible he could end up at 9 or 10...barring injuries to some of the guys above him though, I doubt he could get much higher than that. But, I sure wouldn't drop him for Troy Smith. He probably wouldn't crack my top 40...

I think Utecht will play a large part, with Henry gone, and no proven #3 Wr, I see a minimum 5 Tds. I've seen/heard nothing but rave reviews from Cincy's camp about him, 6'7" with a 7' wingspan, with great hands. Boss on the other hand had a very nice post season, and even though he's not Shockey, the NYG love to throw to the TE, so he could have a nice season but I think Utecht has a higher ceiling.

That's similar to my thought...I felt like Utecht had more potential (fantasy-wise), while Boss might be a "safer" pick (if that's possible with a virtual unproven guy starting for the first time). I'm still amazed I got Steven Jackson at #8...the only reason I did is because the guy ahead of me picked Brett Favre. I'm considering dropping someone (maybe Mendenhall) for Titans RB Chris Johnson. I've got LenDale, so if he goes down, I'd have them both. Edited August 12, 200818 yr by 5wide
August 14, 200818 yr I just drafted today on ESPN in a 10 player league with 16 rounds, here's what I got: Starters QB - Drew Brees RB - Brian Westbrook RB - Willis McGahee RB/WR - Dwane Bowe WR - Laveranues Coles WR - Roy Williams TE - Tony Gonzalez D/ST - Giants K - Stephen Gostkowski Bench QB - Marc Bulger RB - Justin Fargas RB - Chris Johnson RB - Ray Rice WR - Joey Galloway WR - Justin Gage TE - Owen Daniels I know McGahee has a few question marks around him but I got Rice in the 15th round for my insurance policy which I thought was actually pretty lucky, I didn't think he would last that long. I also think Johnson is going to have a huge year, I've drafted him in both my leagues so far. I don't have any HUGE stars at WR but the 5 I do have I think are pretty solid. What do you guys think?
August 14, 200818 yr ^Looks pretty solid. I'd have preferred to get another RB to play in the flex slot. Not a big fan of Fargas with McFadden on board and Bush back from injury...it's almost a certainty he'll lose a lot of touches to McFadden and Bush could very well take over as the goal line back. I like the fact that you got McGahee and Rice. Johnson is a hit-or-miss prospect. I like his potential. If White goes down, his stock goes way up, IMO. If you had LenDale on your team instead of one of the WR's, I'd like it more. But, that's pretty much my only complaint to be honest. I like the quartet of Bowe, Coles, Williams and Galloway. You shouldn't have any trouble getting production from that position. Gage could be a sleeper if the Titans passing game produces more and he emerges as the main threat. Third pick?
August 14, 200818 yr I was a little worried about Fargas as well. I think his touches will definitely dwindle as the season goes on. What would you think about dropping Fargas and picking up Maurice Morris or would that just be 6 in one hand and a half dozen in the other... And yes, I had the 3rd pick.

What would you think about dropping Fargas and picking up Maurice Morris or would that just be 6 in one hand and a half dozen in the other... And yes, I had the 3rd pick. I'd probably stick with Fargas...who are the free agent RB's in your league? Which rookies are still available to pick up? There probably isn't anyone any better than Fargas at this point. There could be some guys with some potential, but it will probably depend on someone getting injured. Here's a few FA's in my league who I think could end up being solid fantasy backs if things work out... Shaun Alexander - Who knows where he'll end up? Kevin Jones - Talented back will be competing with a rookie (Forte) in Chicago...could be a sleeper. LaMont Jordan - Behind Maroney and Morris in NE. But, he's a talented guy...Maroney is injury prone and I could see him surpassing Morris on the depth chart. If things break right, he could carry the load in New England. Kenny Watson/Chris Perry - If Rudi can't get it done, one of these two guys could end up being productive in Cincy's offense. Watson was solid last year, but Perry may have more upside if he's finally healthy. He looked good in their pre-season opener. Michael Pittman - Not sold Selvin Young can carry the load and Ryan Torain is out for a while...Pittman could be the next productive fantasy back in Denver. Fred Jackson - Was pretty solid last year when Marshawn Lynch was out. Ricky Williams - He's actually not a FA in my league, but he could be in some. With uncertainty about Ronnie Brown coming back from an ACL injury, and reports that Williams has looked good, he could be a surprise. Especially considering that Miami will likely feed him the ball. Chris Taylor - Here's a real sleeper. The Texans really liked him heading into the '07 season, but he got hurt. I doubt Ahman Green can stay healthy. I doubt Steve Slaton can carry a full load...that would leave Taylor and Darius Walker. But, at this point, you couldn't rate any of those guys ahead of Fargas coming off a thousand yard season. But, if McFadden and Bush take the majority of Fargas' touches and one of these guys suddenly gets an opportunity, they could easily produce more. It's all luck...
August 14, 200818 yr I thought about picking up Williams or Jones but I actually just put in a trade offer. I offered Fargas and Gage for Thomas Jones. I'm hoping he will accept it and then I would pick up another WR off the wire, probably Toomer. I'm thinking the guy will take it because as starters he has McFadden, Michael Turner & Brandon Jacobs with Thomas Jones, Rudi Johnson and Matt Forte on the bench. He has 4 receivers on the bench as well but they are pretty weak and if he took Gage I would say Gage would be his 3rd option. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
August 17, 200818 yr I'm still waiting for the guy on my proposed trade... I had my 2nd and final ESPN fantasy draft tonight. I didn't realize it until afterwards but I ended up without about half of the same people which could be a good or a bad thing. This league is the same format as the last one I described. Here's what I ended up with: Starters QB- Eli Manning RB- Marshawn Lynch RB- Marion Barber RB/WR - Laurence Maroney WR- Laveranues Coles WR - Roy Williams TE - Kellen Winslow D/ST - Cowboys K - Josh Brown Bench QB - Jason Campbell RB - Chris Johnson RB - Chris Brown WR - Lee Evans WR - Bernard Berrian WR - Justin Gage TE - Owen Daniels My biggest concern is my two RB's on the bench. They could both easily have huge years just as easily as they could be huge busts so we'll see...
