Last year (07-08) at this time:

 

JBS was preseason ranked head and shoulders above everyone else in the 14th. THAT TURNED OUT VERY WRONG.

 

Breathitt County was ranked very high with some giving them a chance at JBS. THAT TURNED OUT VERY WRONG.

 

Perry Central was placed pretty far down the list. THAT TURNED OUT VERY WRONG.

 

At this time next year I'm sure that their will be 'out of place' errors that are similar.

1.Hazard, unfortunately the return most there players if not all.

2.Perry Central, runner up last year, return most there players too, year 2 under Hatcher.

3.Knott Co....Tate and Stamper is a tough 1-2 punch, no inside presence though.

4.Letcher...I believe they return most there players and Banks is very good.

5-17 I have no idea. Imo one of these 4 win the region. Is Channing Fugate staying at Breathitt?

 

Channing is staying at Breathitt but him nor Allen is going to play basketball, so the lone newcomer is Nick, they will be better than last yr. just because of Coach Noble but not close to the top 4. I don't think Hazard will win it this yr. because Coach Hollan told that Campbell and Whit. is already into it with each other, with Campbell saying he was not getting enough tosses in summer ball. But with this talent that Hazard has they still will have to be #1 until someone knock's them off, but look what happen to JBS last yr.

2. Perry with a great coaching staff and additions of Salyers from Breathitt, needed the big man.

3. Knott with the addition of Cox and Hall to play with Stamper, should be a good team, but lacks the Coaching experience to get them over the top.

4. Letcher didn't lose anyone and was coming on strong at the end and very well should of been in the finals with a couple trips coming out differently.

5. Lee with the new big man addition will now have 2 big guys to dominate inside.

6. Estill always has a great chance at winning

7-the rest.... no chance for any of them, weakest teams I've ever seen in this region.

Your right big game player you can never tell who might pop up knock off some people. It seems like ever year there is some one no one thought of. To say no chance well there is no need to say what that is.:argue:

1. Hazard-All key players back

2. PCC-Very Experienced Team with great coaching staff

3. Letcher- Unpredictable Team

4. Knott-with the loss of Hall inside

5. Lee County- Aaron Charles can change any game by hisself

6. June Buchanan- People better watch out for this team with Hall back they could be a major upset team.

From what I've heard is that the Salyers' Family is in M. Beach and that when they get back that the Salyers kid will be going to PCC because of what Supt. Arch Turner has been stating around the Co. about not wanting him back. I know that Josh and his Dad like's Coach Noble and his family very much and that Josh and Nick is best friends, but in my opion this will hurt

Breathitt very much because Josh is a very good inside player and that is something that Breathitt doesn't have. Josh would have maybe been, besides Nick the best player on the team. But you can't say things about Kids and get by with it.

 

I thought Noble was the coach at Breathitt, not Arch Turner. If Salyers is elgible at Breathitt and wants to play there, he should be there.

I don't think anyone can match Hazard's talent this coming year. I wouldn't discount Estill or Lee cracking the top 5 though.

KCC/Lee Toss up

The rest of the 14th is capable of upsetting any one of the above on any given night but the stars would have to align perfectly for the champion not to be from this five. I'll take Hazard and PCC and give the field. LCC will have a long way to travel this year with the region in Powell Co.

Coach Noble will do a good job as a high school coach IMO, he has the tools to teach the players what they need to know to win.

 

I really don't think so, there is just alot of talent there. That is being wasted, IMO.

Nick noble is at breathitt, Josh salyers is at PCC, I don't think the fugate kids is not playing basketball because he thinks football is his sport. I believe breathitt could be better the lee county

 

Breathitt lost a lot from last season....probably 70% of their scoring in Hollon and Smith. They also lost a solid player in Aaron Combs. Who do they return?

 

Rumor has it that Jade Haddix nor Channing Fugate will be playing this year.

Hazard should be the best in the region and make a return to Rupp. They return most of their team from last year's champions.

Knott Central should be a clear-cut #2 with their returning players and the addition of the kids from June Buchanan.

Letcher Central and Perry Central should battle for the 3rd and 4th best team. I don't think there will be much difference in those two.

After the top 4 there's several teams bunched between 5 and 12 that's fairly even. And then there's the rest.

I agree with the top 5 especially. There isnt a 10pt difference in any team 5-12 from what is returning and what I witnessed this summer. I just cant wait to see which 5-12 teams knocks off some of these top 5 we are putting on a pedestal. :sssh:

It won't hurt the team at all if Jade don't play but Channing could really help this team if he would accept the role of off guard and not want to play the point, he is a slasser and not a point guard. JMO!

Hazard is the top team in the 14th region there is no team that can play with them. They have a great coach Holland knows what he is doing. Holland has a great team and Whitaker is the best point guard in the region
