RE: BGP 2008 Preview - Highlands

Highlands (15-0)

Head coach: Dale Mueller

2007: Beat Bowling Green 28-7 to win the Class 5A state championship

18...That’s the magic number for the 2008 edition of the Highlands Bluebirds. The Bluebirds will be after their 18th state title, but it won’t be easy as the Birds have a challenging schedule featuring Ohio power Colerain, Kentucky state champions Lexington Catholic and Central, and arch-rival Covington Catholic.

Of course, it's very well written! After reading this preview, it does make me a bit concerned about HHS' kicking game for 2008. I get the sense from this write-up that kick-offs/XPs/FGs will not be a strong point for the 'Birds this year. At least it sounds like the punting game will be pretty solid.

Also, I find it interesting that the preview presents the starting QB situation at HHS as pretty much a "done deal," with Guidugli set to start. I have heard from other BGP'ers along the way that this was not fully settled yet... I wonder what the reality actually is...

Overall, the team sounds like it will have a nice mix of SRs and JRs, which should bode well for 08 AND 09... here's hoping HHS is headed towards a "three-peat" in 5A!!!!

Nothing for certain until after the two scrimmages, but the way G has worked hard during the off season and as well as he's thrown the football in the 7s, I'd say he's pretty much a lock to be the starting qb unless he falls on his face in the scrimmages; which I honestly don't think is going to happen. Bardo has looked excellent, but with G being a senior and doing nothing to give the job away, I think G is going to be the starter. And actually that is great as it frees up Bardo to play db. All and all, while I'm sure Bardo would like to be the starting qb, the kid is a team player and if G can handle the starting qb spot and Bardo can thus play D and strenthen the defense, Bardo will be just fine with it. Its a team game and Bardo understands that big time. He's a team player. Bring on Ryle; I'm ready.:thumb:

I love how inflated some of the numbers are on these kids. If a couple of the kids listed are what they say they are, then i'm 6'-5"!!!!! That makes Sticky about 6'-0".:thumb: All in all it sounds like the Birds are set to once again to take care of some business!!!! I can't wait
