Tates Creek 2008/2009

Featured Replies

What does Tates Creek need to do to improve in 2008/2009? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Tates Creek has alot of good young players. No worries this team will impove every year!

Still to young to have a big impact in the 11 region this year. I think it will be a good season.

If Tates Creek is going to compete in the ever rugged 11th, they really need to develop a presence in the post. In last 8-10 years this has really held them back. Guard play has always been a strength but it seems as a there has really been a dearth of skilled bigs at Creek for a long time. The last true stud they had in the post was Sylvere Bryan when they lost to Mad Central in the '97 or '98 (cant remember which one) regional finals.

Fucci and Barksdale are young and really good. Now they have an excellent coach in place. Still a tough district and region.

I saw Tates Creek play University Heights on their home floor this past season, and was thoroughly impressed with Fucci. He seemed especially collected and mature for his age as well. Is he part of the lineage of Fucci athletes at Tates Creek?

With Breeden coming in next year and a huge student population, Tates Creek could make some noise, but I don't see them being a contender for a few years. As mentioned earlier, finding a dominant post presence would go a long way.

Fucci is a tremendous guard for a FROSH and the son of Dom Fucci. Barksdale is a great PF, maybe C one day for a FROSH. Breeden will bring tough practices, strict discipline and a winning attitude. They have the talent at Creek in the student body but will they be willing to work the way Breeden wants. The two guys mentioned previously will give what it takes.

I agree, they are both class acts. :thumb:

Marcellous is one of the most well-mannered young men you will ever meet. I give kudos to his mother and his late father for raising such a fine young man.

Barksdale is a great player, and super off the court as well. I hope he continues to develop and become a big time D1 player.

Two very good posts and great to recognize student-athletes on BGP, like this.

Well done.
