Velocity is so overrated in the high school game. They will be fine throwing from the right side even if its at 65 to 70 if they can locate and keep the ball down and change speeds.

As of right now, Beechwood's weakness is their batting. They lost to HC by only getting two hits(Pickett and Larrimore), and only one run. If it wasn't for the outstanding job done by Chuck Wagon, Beechwood would not have been in that game.

Yes true but when you bring in a reliever most of the time you need to throw something different make the batters get a different look and from the sound of it besides Elliott its soft throwing righty's

If a pitcher can't hit their spots it doesn't matter how hard or nasty the pitch may be. I'd say control is just as important if not more then velocity, etc.

The fact of the matter is I think everyone gets caught up with having all these kids who have major league prospect type arms, when most teams have one kid, maybe two, who throw upper 70's or harder and everyone else really doesn't throw all that hard. It really doesn't matter; knowing how to pitch versus being a thrower in the high school level is what really makes the difference.

I am not saying velocity is important i am saying in Beechwoods case they have 2 or 3 pitchers the same.. so when the reliever comes in and he is identical to the one before him its almost like they didnt put in a new pitcher at all

So you're saying velocity is important, because if they dont throw hard then they have to be the same type of pitcher.

If you have two cody elliotts back to back it would be easier to hit... The more looks you get at a pitcher the easier it will be to hit no matter if he thows 90 or 70

They could have two kids who top out at 70, but one likes to locate his fastball moving it around the zone and mixing up two seamers versus four seamers, and the other might like to throw a get ahead fastball and then try to get you out with some junk pitches. Those would be two totally different pitchers.

Anyways the point is that just because they only have one or two guys who throw "hard" doesn't mean pitching is a weakness. They are probably as deep as any team around with the exceptions of one or two.

I think that you have to throw NCC in there as well. On a good day and with Jeramie Connor pitching they can beat anyone.
