Ryle/Cov Cath Predictions

Featured Replies

Might as well start the chatter.

Game is scheduled for 5:00 Wednesday afternoon at Ryle.

Neither team playing up to their standards so far this year so this could be the game that gets both teams on pace.

I'll go with the Raiders. CCH doesn't seem to have much luck in Union.

But it should be a good one.

Have to agree with you DD (You know what? That didn't hurt at all) as neither team is playing up to their own high standards of yet! This game, other than bragging rights, mean nothing this early in the season, and even more so, with the few games that both teams have played so far this season. Hopefully the weather is nice not only for the players, but for the fans. Me, I am tired of sitting in the wet, cold and wind to watch a baseball game. :D

I do however respectfully disagree with you on who will win this game of course. :thumb: :D

What ???? Disagree with the outcome ????? I'am shocked.

We have only played one game up in Northern Kentucky so far this year.

I am also tired of the start and stop season we've had so far. But you can't mess with Mother Nature.

It will be interesting to see the approach both coaches take towards this game.

Prediction....both coaches throw a 3 or 4 pitcher.

Both coaches play some small ball.

Should be fun.

Although.....I might throw my best pitcher, because both teams will use their ace in the Region to get to the title game.

My guess (and it is just that, a guess) with CovCath playing Conner Monday, then Hamilton Badin on Tuesday, Ryle will see one of the sophomores. I see Isler pitching against Conner, and then Niehaus going up against Badin. I doubt very much if Krumps gives Ryle a chance to see Nutini/Sainola, until the Region.

I've never been a very big believer in this "don't let a team see our best pitching until ....." A good pitcher is a good pitcher. Period. Whether he's facing a team for the first time or the tenth time, if he has good stuff and is smart and occasionally makes adjustments (just as the hitters are also trying to do to him), he will succeed. I think Ryle crushes any of the sophomores and therefore don't see them starting this game.

That is why you don't coach.

that is why you don't coach

Actually I do. And am willing to bet have played far longer and far more competitively than you. But you seem like an expert, so let's hear more.

I think he does coach some of the young tallent in the summer.

Well Ryle didn't crush the young CovCath sophomore Nutini last year in the Region, and if Krumps keeps him in the game (of course this is just MO) CovCath wins that game.

Didn't Pete Rose (you will agree, he was a pretty good hitter) say at one point, that it was easier to hit a pitcher no matter who he was after he had seen him, then a pitcher, who he had never seen pitch. In the majors they say you really don't know how good a pitcher is, until his second time around the league. Pitcher's do indeed have a huge advantage over a hitter who has never seen him pitch, and that is why I would start a sophomore.

Well, I won't claim that I'm right, just that I don't personally put all that much stock into that theory. I guess under this theory should not someone tell Dusty not to throw Harang until the playoffs? Wouldn't want to tip off any of the hitters! And if letting someone see your pitcher is such a bad thing, wouldn't the same be true with your hitters? Maybe they should bench all their top hitters so that their opponent could not see the tendencies/weaknesses/stengths of your hitters. Good hitters adjust and good pitchers adjust. Besides, if they want to get a good look at any of the pitchers, it wouldn't be hard to do anyways. Pete didn't have the luxury of travelling to another city to go scout a rookie pitcher prior to having to face him for the first time. We can just drive over to CCH, if we need to. ;)

With respect to the current sophomore CCH pitchers and Nutini as a sophomore last year - and I mean this with no disrepsect whatsoever because I know them well (coached them) and think they are first-rate ballplayers - they aren't Nutini. Just me, but no way I put one of them out on the hill to start the game this Wednesday. No, it's not the region or anything, but it's a pretty big game for these boys and they all want to win badly and I just don't think the sophs are ready for it quite yet. There are plenty other games for them to get their seasoning. But we'll see in 3 days . . .

Well, I would say that's probably the opinion of just about everyone in the ballpark that night. :D

Everryone knew last years Raiders were fast ball hitters. That's why Krumps didn't pitch Blesser in four opportunities, Holy Cross didn't throw Jimmy Ryan, they threw Abe's, a junk baller, and won. Boone threw Krohman once because thats all they had, and lost.....Beechwood threw Elliott and lost,

Dixie didn't throw Matt...

Nutini was probably throwing mid 70's in the region. As soon as Krumps went to Isler, who throws a little harder, most of us knew this was a mistake.
