Pacman Not Getting Back in the NFL...Ever?

Featured Replies

As the Dallas Cowboys continue to pursue Titans cornerback Pacman Jones, there’s a belief in some league circles that Jones will never play pro football again.

At least not in the NFL.

We’re not saying Jones won’t play in the NFL again. We’re only saying that some folks in the business are convinced that the won’t be permitted back in.

If they’re right, it likely won’t happen via a lifetime ban. Instead, Commissioner Roger Goodell is more likely to suspend him again, for all or part of the 2008 season, and then hope/assume that Jones will do something else to justify a further suspension later.

Here's a story refuting that claim...

Pacman may be reinstated by camp, Goodell says

PALM BEACH, Fla. — A decision on whether to reinstate suspended Titans cornerback Pacman Jones could come before the start of training camp in late July, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell indicated Monday at the owners meetings.

Jones, who has been suspended since April because of multiple off-the-field incidents, including a best-interest guilty plea on charges of felony obstruction, has been the subject of trade speculation between the Titans and Dallas Cowboys. But he probably would need to be reinstated before a trade would take place.

"In my last correspondence with Adam, I told him that I would make a decision prior to the start of training camp," Goodell said Monday. "I have seen some of his recent comments that he made on the Michael Irvin radio show. I think some of those comments are encouraging. I've always said that I think that he has to accept responsibility for his actions and that when he does that I would reconsider his status."

He will be picking off passes from Eli this season.

 The only thing he'll be picking is trash off the side of the road...because he'll be back in jail in no time.

I said before I thought the Titans could/should get more out of him than a 5th and from a business standpoint I still feel that way. After I heard what he said on the Michael Irvin interview I'm really hoping they never let him play again! 2nd chance is one thing but he's been given a ton. The problem is he has no remorse. He said in the interview the other night that he would probably peak his head in the strip clubs here and there especially when the heat died down in a couple of years. Meanwhile the guy in vegas is paralyzed for the rest of his life do to the trouble PacMan caused. He is a phenom on the football field but a loser in life. They said Billy Voleck tried to lead him in the right direction in Tenn and Pac said "what can I learn from you I'm the #6 pick!" He's a bum but one of the best if he ever wakes up!

One of the best? He has a total of 4 career interceptions. He's good and he has potential but he has a long way to go before he's considered one of "the best".

Dude are you serious? Why do you keep chasing me around on this PacMan thing? He's a bum! He is a top 10 corner/returner talent wise right now IMO. Obviously he should get better if he can stay on the field. If you don't agree with that then that's fine. The Titans knew he was a bum and still took him with the #6 pick because he is so talented. That's OK if you don't think he is one of the best when he's on the field. IMO he is a GAME CHANGER. There aren't more than 10 of those guys at the corner spot+kick returner spot in the NFL.

Yes, I'm serious. And I'm not chasing you around, I started the thread.

He's not one of the best CORNERS in the game. He's a good returner but he's not a top notch corner, especially given the fact that he can't stay out of trouble.

I'd take:

Champ Bailey

Al Harris

Nnamdi Asomugha

DeAngelo Hall

Antonio Cromartie

Marcus Trufant

Asante Samuel

Nate Clements

Terrence Newman

Ronde Barber

as well as a few others over Pacman, ANY day of the week.

What if he played for the Giants:p

How many of those guys return kicks?

He won't because the Giants are smarter than that.

If he did, he'd still be an idiot and he would still not be at top 10 corner. Just the same as if TO played for the Giants, he'd still be a loud mouth cry baby. Just like if Tony Romo played for the Giants, the Giants wouldn't be super bowl champs. Just like if...you get the point.

I'm happy for you that the Giants won but they keep you blinded from what others that don't love the Giants feel. You bring up T.O. being a loud mouth cry baby which is fine you can have that opinion I felt that way about him too other than last year. Funny how others thought the exact same thing about Plax (I felt that way about him too until this year). There are other teams and opinions in the NFL than the Giants + their fans. Now you are acting like Romo is chopped meat or something:lol: He's one of the best young QB's in the league.

You started this whole thing by quoting me. I said PacMan was one of the top DB+returner combos. You showed me a nice list of corners but I still haven't seen a list of 10 game breaking corner+kick returners that have so much more talent that he can't compare to them. I've said all along he was a punk. Obviously a lot of his evaluation is on potential becasue he hasn't stayed out of trouble. Talent wise right now he is one of the best combos out there.

I am not blinded to anything. What are you basing this on?

Plax was considered a problem in Pittsburgh. He's been nothing but great in New York. Even he admitted that he has changed the way he does things since he came to New York. He's one of the hardest workers on the team. He played with a badly injured ankle, a hurt knee and a separated shoulder for much of the season.

He's had one good year as a good kick returner/corner. He's no Devin Hester.

He may be one of the better (talent wise) combo guys. What I'm trying to get through to you is that the baggage that comes with him out weighs his talents on the field. Is that really that hard to understand?

BTW, TO was more of a cry baby this year, than ever. But me saying that is...really unfair.
