March 28, 200818 yr Author And both titles Smith won at Carolina were handed to him: the errant Georgetown pass in 1982 and the Webber timeout against Michigan in 1993. If those things don't happen, does Carolina ever win a title under Dean Smith? Who says Georgetown would have made the shot if the turn over did not happen? Webber panicked because of 2 reasons:1 he walked after his rebound and I think he was thinking about that and two he was caught in a trap with no one to pass it to. Both things happened and Dean has 2 titles, it does not change anything.

It should have never come down to the wire. Given enough talent even the most inept coaches will win eventually. Smith's legacy is overblown.

March 28, 200818 yr Yeah, G-town was real push-overs back then... They weren't a pushover, but the game shouldn't have been a problem with the talent UNC had that year. Just an opinion.

March 28, 200818 yr Author 3 future All-Pro players say so. I don't have to. I am sure all 3 of those players were at the top of their game and never mind how dominate how G-town was in the 80's... But those 3 brought home the championship!:thumb:
