McCreary Central's Jones wins 2nd Straight COY

The award was voted on before the post-season, I do believe.

I think if you look at the regular season, there is no doubt that Jones deserves the award. Jackson may have the right to be co-award winner because his team was #1 in the region, but if you look at it this way, then you'll understand what I am saying.

McCreary Central wasn't rated in the top 3 in any preseason poll, and was behind Lincoln, Boyle, Mercer, Wayne, and Pulaski in the BluegrassPreps.com poll and went 5-0 against those teams. No one outside of McCreary expected the Raiders to roll through the region except minor losses to West Jessamine and Rockcastle. They weren't picked to be top two or three, and they were whenever the award was voted on, and that qualified Jones to be the COY.

Jones already stated, and rightfully so, that he would trade his past two awards for district championships. The Raiders overachieved until it came down to when it mattered most and they flopped - but it was already voted on and no one can change it.

Next season looks bright again for the Raiders. They will not have the depth that they had this season and maybe not quite as good, but they will probably start Watts, Dixon, Wright, Roark and then a list of other people could fill the final spot.

Two juniors and two sophomores will most likely start for them next season - the future is extremely bright in Raider Country.

Two juniors and two sophomores? You named three sophomores and a freshman on the probable starters for next season.

Watts will be a junior.

Roark will be a junior.

Dixon will be a sophomore.

Wright? Either a sophomore or junior.

Either way, I was closer than you.

Wright will be a junior.

Let's just hope these boys can get the Raiders out of this "slump" they seem to be in when post season comes around.
