February 26, 200818 yr Author Beckett does NOT want a 6 man rotation so they will not go to one, IMO. Beckett doesn't make the calls on the team last I heard. He's been a team player since he's been there--Tito's in charge or they wouldn't have extended his contract for 3 years:sssh:. Beckett will do as he's told.

If the best playoff pitcher in quite a while doesn't want a 6 man rotation cause it affects the way that he throws, then they will listen to him.

Nice try but Dice-K and Curt were also 3-0 last postseason. Believe it or not Josh doesn't run this club. Tito is in charge and if not him it's Papi. They won't be bowing down to Beckett. Josh will pull the company line--sorry but I'm much closer to the situation than you. Beck's is great, but a product of the franchise, not the reverse.
February 26, 200818 yr If they go to a 6 man rotation it won't last long. Tim Wakefield will be the 6th starter and will probably be used in spot relief, as well as making an occassional start. At least that's what I'd do.

Oh then I will take your word for it. Anyways, do you think they will go to a 6 man regardless of Beckett's desires?

You're involved with the BoSox front office? Nice. And, as a Reds fan, I would love for Beantown to let Beckett go and keep Big Papi. I have a hard time believing that a group of competent baseball people would do that, though.
February 26, 200818 yr Author Oh then I will take your word for it. Anyways, do you think they will go to a 6 man regardless of Beckett's desires? Yes, why not? They have every bit as good a starting lineup and a better pitching staff than the Yankees. The season isn't a sprint. Why risk Buchholz or Lester when you don't have to with a more than adequate offense? Tell me and I'll listen.

I know Theo a little better than you. I tried to tell you all last season but whatever.

I have never been a pitcher but it would seem like it would just be too many off days. Also, it seems almost like a waste of a roster spot since it is pretty clear that a 5 man is adequate. But who knows, it could work. And with as talented as the BoSox are, even if it didn't work they could make up for it.

And you should be free to look back and look this up: The Red Sox know what they are doing. Lester and Buchholz are young . Beckett, Dice-K, Wakefield, Colon aren't. There is a reason that they wouldn't trade them for Santana. Who do you trust, the Mets, the Yankees, the Twins, or the GM that has won 2 of the last 4 Titles? Just curious? Not saying he's right..........

I didn't even accuse the Red Sox of not knowing what they are doing. You and Theo must be really close because you are defending when him there is no accusation. I'm sure that they will make the right decision

February 26, 200818 yr Author You have no idea. Well, actually maybe not Theo. But I have gotten a very reliable insider source. At least I'll trust them until they prove otherwise. LOL.

They both have plenty of tread left on the tires.

It's them doing what they're getting paid to do! Pitching is about finding a groove, whether it be on the mound during games or in the bullpen in between starts. Throwing in an extra day of rest would be a terrible decision by the Red Sox, IMO.
