This year's Newcath team will just reload from last year. They are loaded with 25 talented seniors that have been waiting their turn. This group of incoming seniors went undefeated as eighth graders and freshman. Their receiving core will surprise a lot of people with their size and speed. The only thing that kept this group off the field last year was a deep talented class ahead of them. There are also some good athletes returning to the program that have not played since their freshmen year. They will be complemented by a junior glass of good strong lineman. Steffen Roll is the one senior returning D-lineman with the most experience. He started in four or five games due to an injured John Keating. Look for him to anchor up the front line along with big Jake Kiernan. These two grew up playing on the same street with big brother Zack Kiernan as their motivator. It's their turn to be the big dogs now!

I hope so. Solid line play could lead to a very big year w/ Kelly and Kues returning.

Saw an outstanding prospect for NCC at the district hoops game last night. Young Jake Giesler, 6'4" / 200 lb. Long and lean and plenty mean! And he's only a Soph-o-more!! I can see him adding a couple more inches and quite a few pounds to his frame. Might be the next great lineman from NCC if he does! Comes from a very athletic family, Mom and Dad both college athletes, brother a Jr. on the NCC hoops team. If he works hard this summer, he could crack the NCC lineup and be a force.

You mean, he'll be a Sophomore!!! Put him and if Big Jake keeps improving his feet, and you have two very formidable tackles. However, I'm not sure that either are ready for varsity quite yet. Jake is athletic, I don't know that he has the strength just yet. However, w/ his frame, he will.

You are correct! Will be a sophomore. After FB season I automatically "move 'em up" in my mind!!

NCC will be good this year. This group were Undefeated Freshman Champs and have only improved since then. Most players have been on Sidelines or played in 3 state title games. Should be a fun year.

Very true. He won the scout team award last year as a Soph. Maybe with a year of growing and a tough winter in the weight room.....Who knows. He is a pretty tough kid.
