While its the official's responsibility, it doesn't preclude a T. A T should have been called and I don't think this is a case of "preventative officiating" nor do I think most officials would have handled it this way. It obviously would have been nice of they caught it but its still the responsibility of the sub and the player being subbed for. The rulebook is very clear with no gray area.

Only adds to my comments on another thread about officiating. It is easy to miss something like that but it is all based on the crew you are with - you are only as good as who you are teamed up with.

 

Girls games aren't as fast paced or action packed as the boys and I think the refs get bored which is why they miss things. Just my take .....

 

 

Right! It s not that they are incompetent they are just bored.

 

He did not miss it he just decided not to give the T. There is no excuse for not knowing the rules, missing a call is one thing but intentionally not calling it is another.

I've always seen it as a technical. That's confusing that it wasn't.
