Scouting other teams

Featured Replies

More than you could ever imagine.

Coaches may tell you, "I don't look at that stuff." They aren't telling you the truth.

Why wouldn't they use BGP? It's a great way to motivate and there is tons of useful information on opponents on here.

:thumb: Agree..A great many do read the stuff and you are correct when you say they aren't telling the truth if they say they don't. The ones that let it bother them are a bit insecure and paranoid IMO..:p

My favorite part of coaching. The chess game. Find what the strategy they are going to employ against you and devise a counter strategy. LOVED scouting.

Recently, I did one for a fellow friend coach and they ended up with 8 pages of notes from me. Couple of fastbreak offenses, hand signals from the varsity coach that signalled their 1/2 court defenses and where they trapped, what changes he made at halftime, what plays/defenses they ran out of timeouts, where on the floor did players liked to catch and shoot, strengths and weaknesses, etc, etc.

LOVE IT!

I loved taking players with me. Should them the tendencies of the player they would be guarding, showed them what to expect on offense when the opposing team called a certain play.

Remember the 5 P's-----Proper planning prevents poor performances.

In the 16th region...Bill Bradley has seen the other teams in the region more than he has his own team! I don't think I have covered a game this year that he wasn't at!!!
