Why is it we can compete in Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, Track, Cross Country but not basketball?

Why is it we can compete in Soccer, Volleyball, Swimming, Track, Cross Country but not basketball?

Our time is coming in the 9th Region. More and more girls are playing year round (AAU) and more are concentrating soley on basketball. The last couple of years have been the most competitive in recent memory and a lot of different teams are scheduling tougher opponents to prepare for the tournament. I still think that teams feel that it's good enough to earn a birth in the State Tournament and feel satisfied with that. All of the really good boy's teams we've had and only 2 State Titles. Would of been 3 if Charles Hurt didn't stick his hand throught the rim and knock Doug Schlomer's winning shot out.
