Anderson County 71 Garrard County 63

Featured Replies

Close game until halftime when the Bearcats eased out to a seven point lead. Early in the third quarter the lead stretched to seventeen before Garrard County closed it back to seven. The Lions could get no closer.

Good ballgame between two pretty good teams. Anderson County is a real threat to win the eighth region, but probably not much more than that. Garrard County has a solid chance to beat Boyle County in the district, but most would consider that an upset.

What did the Penny kid from Anderson do?

He was a force, but had a bit of early foul trouble and sat most of the second quarter. I think he finished with 14 points. Garrard County really couldn't match up with the size Anderson County has.

#41 for Anderson County has 29 points. I can't remember his name, but played the forward position. Very nice player. Anderson has a solid team.

#41 is Jacob Russell. Very good athlete, QB on the football team. He gives Anderson a good one-two punch.

If the Bearcats ever get it together on the defensive side of the ball, they could make some noise come region and state tournament time.

This is a very encouraging sign for the 12th Region. Considering that the 12th will play the 8th in the state tournament and Anderson is the favorite from the 8th by most, a win in the tournament will be good for the region - since no one has won a game since South Laurel won that championship a few years back. No offense to Garrard County, but they may be 6-8th at best; however, the region IS wide-open and they could pull a few upsets.

Agreed. No one is calling Garrard County a regional contender and rightfully so. It was good to see them compete with Anderson County, who likely is the 8th region favorite as of right now.

I will say this: Garrard County played pretty well. I'm not sure if the score would have been the same if this game was in Lawrenceburg. Anderson County is very long and they have several kids that can score. It would be a big challenge (not impossible, just tough) for Lincoln, McCreary, et al. to beat them in the state tournament.

I am very impressed with Garrard's new coach. He has made them a very competitive squad.
