Whitley 54 Williamsburg 51

Whiltey escapes with the 3 point win. Williamsburg played hard and Whitley looked flat early but gutted it out and found a way to win. Cunningham played great for Williamsburg, while Jamie Lebanion picked up the Colonels on his shoulders in the second half. Ben Prewitt had another solid game, running the offense. Whitley could not hit shots early and Williamsburg did, they really out hustled the Colonels for most of the game, but in the last 3-4 minutes of the game, Whitley held their composure while Williamsburg paniced a bit. In the last 20 seconds, they dribbled for 15 seconds before Robinson called a time out.

I was impressed with the fact that Whitley never seemed to panic, they just kept plugging a way and finally took the lead and held it. Sometimes you have to win ugly and win ugly on the road, which the Colonels did.

Whitley secures the third seed in the district. Colonels get the 10th win of the season and Baker gets his 100th win as a Head Coach.

Congratulations to Coach Baker. If they had left him at Breathitt he would be closing in on his 200th win! No doubt he'll reach that mark in a few more years though.

Read where W'burg lead for 3 periods and had the lead with four minutes to go, tough, tough loss for a team that really needed the win. Hats off to Whitley for finding a way to win, something they had problems with the last few years.

This game was a pretty good game. I thought Whitley County was the most talented of the two teams. Williamsburg played D, hustled, caused turnovers, and made it a game.Williamsburg had no answer for the Lebannon kid down the stretch of the ball game. I hope Williamsburg will play with that type of heart and determination every night.

NO question Whitley has more talent, but the officals let Whitley reach and hold on defense which made it hard on W'burg...To beat Whitley, W'burg needed to get some calls and it did not happen...

Congrats to the Colonels on fighting back to get the win...Coach Baker and staff are getting it done...

I thought Coach Baker made a terrific move when he posted Lebanion against the smaller Wburg perimeter defender in the 4th quarter. He got several easy baskets and some FT's before the Jackets adjusted, that my friends was the difference in the ball game. Of course, I was sitting near the top of Mountjoy gym and may have not seen things clearly.

I agree Bubba, moving Labanion was a good move. I also agree with Ramblin. Whitley was aloowed to play with their hands alot on D. Whitley played full court man the entire game and Wburg played zone. I havent seen the FT stats but I would guess close to 35 for Whitley and less than 10 for Wburg. ANyone know for sure? It was avery good game but the way it was called benefited Whitley a great deal.

You were close, it was 22 to 5 in favor of Whitley, that is a tough man to man full court and not foul. I know at one point it was 7 fouls Williamsburg to 1 Whitley, and Williamsburg was in a zone.
