BAD free throw shooting.

And some of Raceland's misses were the front end of the bonus. You have to make free throws to beat a good team. I look for east to win the tourney.

East Carter made the big plays down the stretch. Probably would have won by a bigger margin but the stripes kept Raceland in the game. Springsteen, your Rams have some talent - but not enough to take down a very good East Carter team. Well done EAST CARTER!!!!

Thank you oldrambler for the jokkingly manner, I am always quick to defend officials for what they try to do.

 

I think we often take our frustrations in life out on them for doing a thankless job and this holiday season they are spending more time getting screamed at and less time with their family's.

:thumb: It would be a very rare occurance if ever when I would blame an official for a loss. IMO even if a team gets a "one sided" game called against them they can always look back at the stats and see how many free throws the missed, how many turnovers, mental mistakes. poor execution, etc.,etc and they will pretty easily see that if they had taken more care of thier own game and execute better then some bad calls against them woudn't have mattered.

(just an example) A basketball team (any team) loses a game by 2 pts., they had missed 10 FT's, turned the ball over a number of times, etc.... A bad call or two down the stretch and they were complaing / blaming the loss on the calls. Look at the missed FT's alone, had made a few more easy shots from the floor that were missed and I believe that they could see where the game was lost.

Raceland has the talent to beat East. East wasnt that impressive to me. The stripes also had Racelands main players in foul trouble early in the game. So dont pretend like they kept Raceland in the game. East had no answer for Boyles. East took the lead while Sparks was out in foul trouble.

The young ref did everything but hand the game to Raceland- would run in from opposite side of court to make a call when the official looking right at the play didn't blow his whistle. 2 East Carter starters on the bench in the first quarter. Sparks also in foul trouble early but he was not a factor when he was in the game. East outscored Raceland 41-28 in the second half to take the win. Boyles is a nice player - one of my preseason top 10 but it takes more that 1 player to win a game. East had plenty of answer as Drew Johnson knocked down the go ahead 3 point basket to finish with 18 points and Seagraves and Bair added free throws to extend the lead. I agree Raceland has some talented players and the rematch later in the season could go the other way but fact is for now East is better team. No pretending.

Another good win for the Raiders who were playing their 4th game in 4 days. They keep finding ways to win and are off to solid 7-1 start. Let's get one tomorrow night and bring home some hardware from Ramblerland. For the record Springsteen #1 says homecourt is worth 10 points, so this was a 14 point win. Just kidding I couldn't resist, Raceland has a solid team and will make some noise.

 

I hope you were there what a great game it was, East has a very good an agressive team. I think you will agree with me though the officials did not play as well as the 2 teams, but they were equally as bad against both teams. The 16th has a reputation for poor officiating an I don't know why there is no improvements
